What we can do is make weapons silly expensive!
This is ideal in my eyes. Weapons are too easy to get hold of, to the point where rebels with a lot of money walk around Kavala with their guns out without really caring if they lose their guns or not. Increasing the price will encourage rebels to be more wary of how and when they use their rifles, which makes it a lot more realistic imo.

Or in turn make them more violent, because of fear of losing it.

I don't like the sight of Rebels/crims all standing next to cops with rifles out having a casual chat then just both part ways its become far to accepted for people to prance about with guns like that, cops wont confiscate them because they fear that they'll get moaned at by rebels or shot.

A delicate situation indeed

Guns should cost a lot more and harder to get, that way people who actually own them might actually value there life more, In my eyes sometimes assault rifles add to the roleplay but other just get trigger happy.

Cops: Pistols/Tazers on normal patrol, SMG in backpack/ car incase things go south and access to a 5.56 which they are only allowed to purchase when it is needed (When no AR is on) or maybe officers would have to be trained to use 5.56, however, with officers having to be trained, people may turn it down as it could be 'too realistic' or 'not fun', I personally would like to see this.

Civs/Rebels: pistols (completely legal with a firearm license level 1?) SMGs a much higher price but are only legal with a firearms license level 2, could create some good Roleplay of why they actually have an SMG, and then a AK or something that is super expensive and completely illegal..

Just a few ideas..obviously can be expanded on and is going to have pros and cons, feel free to expand on it as I would love to see what people come up with ☺️

The fact that people carry their rifles around cops is a whole different subject. You will mostly see this around the greenzones where rebels are free for the taking by the cops. They do it because they believe they can talk their way out of having them and i agree with you here too

I get that its roleplay, talking your way out of it. But i think its becoming a tad too unrealistic too. The excuse that: Oh its a walking stick! Oh its an antenna! Oh its a BB gun! Oh its a lunchbox!.. Its getting old and i think its actually a step in the wrong direction to let people with guns in the city walk unpunished.

The Police need to strike down on people with guns, regardless of WHO and WHERE they are.

So here is what i think.

In terms of realism, i think the Tanoa police should be allowed to use lethal force more often than the Altis police as they are the police in a remote island would be underdeveloped and not as well funded as a police force located as close to the UK as Greece which would get funding from both the UK and EU and wouldn't have the same equipment and facilities.

On the other hand we dont really know what role the Tanoan government plays in the campaign/lore if they are weaker or stronger, funded by NATO or CSAT etc. etc.

Getting off topic?

Sorry

Just having Pistols would be great be great because the range will bring everyone closer thus increasing the chance of RP, you can still do the Pirate thing, in fact it doesn't limit any of the crime options it just means people need to be closer.   That alone will produce a much better play experience for everyone, the problem at the moment is you just cannot see it as you have no experience of it.   I think Ducks idea of a trial time to see how it plays (say a month), is a great one.   Then just evaluate how it went at the end and make a decision based on that.

It will enable you to make an informed decision instead of one biased by your views so to speak.

I don't know about pistols only and police getting better weapons, just sounds unfair. I think that we should be allowed guns up the MX - assualt rifle, bassically any gun with a 600m effective range. Having anything higher than that just feels too militarized, less powerful guns will just make role play happen more often but still allow for some gunfights here and there.

But it will absolutely not work if one side has better guns than the other.

Tbh id say keep everything as it is atm, we are humans we always complain about something and now the server is going well in my eyes. You always have rotten apples. Next thing people are gonna complain about people spraying with their pistols

Pistols only. Pistols for cops, SMGs for AR. Done. Must be X number of AR online to use SMG's.

As a cop, I'd be happy to walk around with just a Tazer let alone a pistol / SMG. I rarely use lethals anyway.

EDIT: maybe SMGs for whitelisted rebels.

I think the M4 (Or what ever it is) should be used with the police, as well as the MPK, the MPK can be in the back of police cars and used when in a gun fight, however only pistols should be used. The M4 can be given to NCA and AR to keep in their cars for operations and quick responding.

Rebels should get the 5.56 variant of the AK I think, as well as maybe the Mk20 and TRG, however no scopes bigger than the MRCO, because snipers aren't really fun, however there should be a threat of getting robbed, but not as much as on Altis. Should be the way you play that determines this

However a move towards pistols rather than large guns is good imo
no scopes at all, even a holosight can do great damage tbh

realistically the police would have more firepower than others, and always have the upper hand. AR in my opinion should be having access to M416's under strict rules. Normal police officers can have pistols and tazers and if it's a very dangerous situation a high ranking AR officer can authorize the use of SMG's? for Rebels they for a ridiculous price would be able to get AK74's with no scopes or attachments available other than the flashlight.

And you don't call "up to 600m" militarized? 600m is a long way for you to speak to someone, I don't think anyone should have acess to anything higher than 5.56, the m416 will be 5.56 and the small ak variants will be 5.45, and expensive, if the scopes that AR get's access to are realistic, so only holosight. It would have a good overall balance imo.

I think that for the higher end weapons (whatever they turn out to be, smgs or ak's) should be only available through crafting. This would work well with all of the raw material mines on Tanoa, as well as people not being able to just go and buy a new AK or SMG when they died.

Maybe some skill level to coincide with it? (higher levels of skill required to get higher tier guns)

I dont see how it should be unfair. Pistol for everybody or rifles for everybody. Pistols only sounds awesome!

I suggest leaving the MX sw, MXM and  7.62m guns out of tanoa maybe the mk14 ( For a price of 450k mmags 5k each ) For some hunting rp as they are mostly used for hunting those guns ( Maybe a Lee enfield i would love to see them comeback ( old style guns )

Currently, the absolute 'No Vote' is the minority. Interesting.
It isn't you can't count the other 3 options together as they're different options

The No vote is atm the biggest

Nooooo

The other votes, in various forms, Vote 'Yes' for pistols and are the majority. The fine print needs sorting out. At the very least it suggests there is a very divided opinion.

Personally like the server how it is. If there's not a problem, don't fix it. Most RDM in Kavala is a hobo with a pistol. Only rare occasions that RDM is committed with a rifle, be it a hobo picking up a rifle off a dead body or buying one off a player. When rebels RDM, in their mind, they aren't doing anything wrong and will generally come to TS to discuss their actions. I feel like the map Tanoa and Arma as a game is created with long range weapons in mind. I'll be the first to say that I want rifles to stay, and the attachments. However, I won't be scared to try something new, such as pistols only.

Very valid point, its pretty much in favour of Civs having pistols 53%

:)

It would certainly be fun to try though! #RPFORTHEWIN!
Couldn't Agree more:

I am going to explore the island and i have some fun facts

From Georgetown on  a rescue boat to the top left island closes dock something with fort takes you 5;30min to get there
