I think around page 2 we lost track of the suggestion and went into argument/discussion mode.
I cannot dev based on "make civ life more interesting" - come to us with ideas, this is a suggestion thread, so lets work on them.
- how do you invision that building job?
- heists? tell me more about them
- "character driven jobs" perfect, tell me more!
Remeber, here on this thread you have the spotlight - make the best out of it!
I think that came from people whos businesses would "suffer" short term got very aggro against those making reasonable suggestions, then receiving responses from people who have felt these issues first hand.
Suggestions: building jobs, there are many construction sites situated around the city that you could go to have simple interactions with, moving blocks of wood, bricks, wheelbarrows etc and earn money based off skills perhaps even use the same minigame implemented with hotwiring/repairing cars to earn a bonus. This then could later be used to fire up personal jobs, introducing a degredation system to personal houses/businesses that over time could have an effect on those belongings being uninhabitable/unusable. Then people can call out to other players to come and repair those businesses. This could be done by creating a meter that goes down over time, once it reaches certain markers on that meter things like water leaks happen, you can't access your garage anymore, cant access storage anymore, it sounds like a punishment sure, but it makes people interact and also will weed out people who as I mentioned above those who come in and hog houses and not use them. (water leaks can also be helped by another suggestion below) building animations are already provided in game and as for the building sites all that would be needed is a few markers that say "fix___" you walk over to it you interact with it and its job 1/__ complete once you reach a determined amount you get paid.
How about a middle ground with CoC and the average joe, how about working with someone to create an estate agents, MoS/CoC whoever gathers the data on which houses are still purchasable and works with these estate agents to help people find homes around the city instead of spending hours running door to door they just pay a little extra for the service. Introduces a roleplay aspect because then those people will need to discuss what things they want from a house, the estate agent gives them a selection that they can choose from and pay. Wouldn't be difficult to bring in, the information is already there.
Plummers/essential road works: If a fire hydrant/water main gets knocked out, an area loses water. This means businesses can't cook and fire services cant put out fires, I understand this maybe very difficult/impossible to impliment but a suggestion nonetheless.
Lasertag/paintball: I know this can be done as I have experienced this sometime in the past in this server. Corden a zone in a place up north that can be used as a paintball/airsoft field where people are free to shoot eachother freely with nonharmful weapons.
Parcel deliveries: essentially work the opposite of collecting bins. Instead of collecting at detemined locations, you deliver to locations instead. Opens doors for character driven jobs in that if people want to buy a certain item from a certain shop somewhere. Jimmy pays Steve money to go and collect 5 drills from sandyshores. Simple as that. There are places around the city that can be used as postal hubs to start the jobs.
Dock work: Cranes load cargo from the cargo ship to container trucks and vice versa. Transportation drivers could also do jobs from here allowing two more civilian jobs to merge and work together. This could also work with dealerships getting certain cars from overseas and other items that can be sold around the city, could also work with factions such as The Lost for importing guns into the city, would also work with the police and even allowing for a Customs and Export job to form. Also can open up more interactions with Warehouses/Storage to keep the chain moving.
Landscaping: A job for people to come and landscape and mow lawns theres already scripts widely available for this kind of work.
Vets: this would work well with the rangers, animals come in injured and the rangers/registered vets could help with seeing those animals return to full health. Could work similar to the NHS except its with NPC animals. Imagine scripts for this also exist.
Electrician work: Again scripts exist can be roleplayed well within businesses.
Just gonna fire off a few quick things now not really jobs oriented but activities.
Allow the ferris wheel/rollercoaster in game work as it does in base game.
Open up Ammunation to be firing ranges weapons get automatically taken from you when you leave.
A car dyno for a car garage.
If bennys is the go to for car modification then make it either visual or performance based and allow another garage to take the other. Thus giving a use for the Dyno.
ATM robberies
Allow people to cook food in their own properties but only to a certain degree and make the best filling foods available from diners etc.
A more realistic fitness system that makes you faster or slower dependant on your fitness stat.
Road work jobs.
These are all things the scripts exist for and could be implemented. But these suggestions will get read and ignored or brushed off just like all the others.
P2P RP interactive jobs civilian jobs, though they do exist and you have the MLOs to support them, the foundations do not make them a viable way to make money, people will not pay money for an "imaginary" service. This isn't as easy as saying just roleplay these jobs. But the scripts DO exist for all the things I have mentioned here and it's whether or not the people making these decisions WANT to see a positive change for roleplay here. Earlier on in the threat someone mentioned its EITHER make a lot of money grinding it out solo OR roleplay for peanuts at the chance to progress and yes whilst I can see there is a risk/reward to making the decision on whether to give those things to your players it's also not difficult to go through previous great threads here and see them slapped with the good old chestnut "DENIED" to any suggestion that would improve RP. Neither am I undermining the works the devs go through to get these things working. But I just know instead of discussing with people who suggest theses things they will get read and denied almost immedietly, I've seen it happen before and I know my suggestions will be brushed away until someone else suggests the same things, I am not the first to suggest theses things and I certainly wont be the last. Instead of denying things because they have already been denied why aren't those things resuggested seeing an influx of people requesting them?
