NHS Activity

have to correct you here Reborn

SUR. do NOT get access to Hatchback Sports or Boats, you need to be in the right branch (RIR, CG).
sorry forgot the difference to hatchback to sport lol never had the sport yes they need to be in RIR branch

Ranks have no reward.

MD>SUR>DR all the same. Can't access anything else, nothing to work towards?

I'd love to be able to use the helicopter but the fact you need to do a a written application test and then a physical test. If it worked up by ranks instead of branches people would be more active and want to work towards something.

MD > SUV

SUR > Hatchback Sport

DR > Helicopter

People will work towards these ranks for access to the vehicles rather than having to do tests. i'm sure activity will fly up if this was the case. Anyone can drive a hatchback sports? PCSO/CSO in police drive them all the times with other officers in?
Going to have to disagree with this one. I can see this working as if you were a MD you could do a hatchback sport test however as a SUR you get it automatically. Almost no active Air Rescue member is a DR which would mean that no one would be flying.

If it worked as if you were a SUR you automatically got a hatchback sport, however as MD you could get one by doing all of the tests.

After doing a quick read through here I think I got a roughly understanding about NHS vehicle policies. So my suggestion is: Let anyone drive whatever land and water vehicle they want no matter rank. Let anyone who does a simple test fly the heli. And when I mean simple, I mean take off, fly somewhere and land in a sort of tricky situation. Just like how @Thesoldiertested me during my WA99 test back in my NPAS days. We took off, flew somewhere and then landed. (And then he shot out my tail rotor to see if I could land without one, but as a NHS Pilot you dont need that skill)

By letting medics NHS have more access to more vehicles, they can respond to more casualties.

Edit: I miss my NPAS days :(

As a quick reminder:

Anybody who wants to talk to me personally send me a message on TS and I will only be to happy to have a talk. I will be around the TS from 17:30+, I am usually somewhere in the NHS channels.

I just wanna do Air rescue, ahha everyone knows i can fly just cba to do written and test

To be honest the tests are not too hard, and for Air Rescue you are even allowed to use the Air Rescue Handbook. The practical test is not that hard either and does not take that long (25mins max).

This is exactly one of my points... I remember in the old days when a First Aider could pull out a helicopter whenever he wanted if there were less than 4 medics online.
It was a simple rule and it worked back then. So many hoops and hurdles to jump through / over makes you not want to do it.

Waiting for an SMTO GP or CMO for hours and hours for just an interview? I am sorry but no ill pass.

When di you try to do your interview?

If you would the Waiting Room description you should be aware that the best time to have an interview is around the evenings. If you do wait for an interview at evenings there is usually somebody available to do your interview within an hour.

Well 'within' there used to be a lot's of MTO's which interviewed with speed and you used to wait shorter. Now you have to wait for a SMTO GP or CMO only. Cant really understand why MTO's have been removed which there were a lot's of them. And i took my interview when lionel was the CMO it was brilliant and fast. I left because of the attitude of some people within the NHS.

Even I was a medic then, it was alot of fun ^^

To many rules, when you jump on to help the server with dead players is something that made me stop logging on as a medic back then.
And from what i heard the medics have more rules now, than when I was a STU/FA.

I think the majority of players who join medics do it to get a break from their "regular" RP.
It's a chanse to do something diffrent and fun for 1 hour when you for example wait for your gang members to get home from work.
Or when you just want a change of gameplay / RP.

I understand that it needs to be rules. And its a good reason alot of them are in place. But as @Mycaelis is pointing out.
It's no reason to add "rules to the rules".

And I think if NHS became abit more free for the players, people will mby enjoy it more.

I cant speak for other than my self when I say this.
But when a player have 1500k hours in arma (example), you should trust that person to drive his/her own car, and also be alone.
When the same senario is there, the person should be trusted to fly a chopper.
And if the person are a bad pilot, he/she should say so. Same goes for driving. They are working with saving lives, that should be their first consern imo.

So TL;DR
Give the medics some more freedom and I think the activity will become better

The MTO's have not been removed, there are just very few people who are active and long enough in the NHS to make good MTO's. Again this should change as soon as we get the activity of the NHS up. But if you want to know more about MTO's it's best if you contact @GP Willis since he is the Head MTO.

So if I didn't get you wrong, you would consider joining the NHS again if it was more relaxed / less strict / fewer rules in place?

And maybe let certain people with high scores join in directly as an FA because i know some people do not want to go around asking someone for patrol for a long time. And as Mycaelis said so much rules for such an organization. Give me a quick interview and give me FA i'll freakin play medic every time i log in for an hour. And as Mycaelis said again the regular hatchback for FA's are too slow making them less effective maybe add SUV aswell? Medic's needs to be mobilized regardless of the rank.

I worked with the NHS for a good 7 months and I remember we kept adding branches and restrictions with the intention to filter out the best pilots, drivers and roleplayers. If the NHS was 10x more active than it was this could have worked a lot better as we would only have the most experienced pilots in air rescue and excellent drivers in RIR.

Now that I look back at it I do think that most people are capable of flying a helicopter from A-B as 9/10 situations don't require a high level of piloting skills; if they do you can just find somewhere else to land or whatever. Same goes for driving. I think there should be restrictions but less of them, here are some ideas:

Student: Has to patrol with FA or higher (maybe MD if they got a lower score). No need for vehicles as they will be with a colleague.

First Aider: Access to the Box Truck AND SUV. They can patrol alone as well. Only allowing the box truck is a bit silly as it's slow and not entirely effective. At this rank you have access to the helicopter however higher ranks can take priority. There should be a limit as to how many helicopters can be airborne at any given time.

Medic Rank: Access to the hatchback sport. Like SGT in the police getting medic isn't difficult to reach and offers access to a nice new vehicle.

Surgeon + Doctor: Not sure about these two ranks yet but i'm sure there will be something. Like boats? hehe

So if I didn't get you wrong, you would consider joining the NHS again if it was more relaxed / less strict / fewer rules in place?
That question for me is a definitely: Yes.

If I could just be a First Aider, with access to a Helicopter if there are no other medics online, or less than 3,  a Sports Hatchback and not having to sit around and do an interview (after having 1500+ hours in ALUK the questions almost feel insulting) ... I'd be happy to join and play in the NHS.

Well from what ive seen and been told by people and read in this post  the NHS is far too complicated for what they do and a 25 minute test to be authorised to fly a helicopter that is to literally get from point a to point b is to me ridiculous, if it was like a role in the police where you are scouting people or transporting people  i could understand but it isn't

I would love to be a medic but from reading this i've been put off from purely because of how complicated  it is and ive had nothing but incredible interactions with medics but the one negative point that stands out for me is when we handed over a go kart to a medic with a helmet as well to get back into kavala as a hobo had ruined his car ( it blew up) and we then found out that the medic got a warning of some sorts for doing so as it was against NHS Rules and wasn't serious RP...eveb though it was all done within rp and we even gave him an escort  it just seems daft and goes beyond common sense

We will always have interviews and the rank of STU. to begin your medical career with. Same as police don't just give you PC if you have never been in the police force before. If we wouldn't do so we could not make sure that the people who join are capable of delivering quality RP, and that is what the NHS is about.

And about the interview, don't see it as insulting, see it as your first lesson how the medics work :)

And also the interview should be easier I think I mean the nhs one it's longer and in my opinion harder to pass than the police one...

And unfortunately that's why I'm not a medic.
By the looks of the forums there's probably 20-30 who've read this topic that are in the same situation.

I'm an SPC in the police, 1500+ hours on the server, I was an active First Aider when the NHS was first introduced for around 3 months (then it started to get a bit silly with all the rules coming into place which lead to me eventually quitting). I'm an accomplished pilot and can easily drive a sports hatchback.

Despite all that, the NHS still demand an interview, and make me do tests to prove I can do all those things.
Far too much work for me mate. When I've just finished a 9 hour shift at work, I'm tired... I want to have some fun. Not sit in a TS lobby waiting for someone to give me an hour long interview / test and talk about things I already know how to do.

Anyway, I tihnk I've spoken enough about this so I'll let others have a say and stop spamming the topic.
