Important question regarding no scroll wheel

So it appears that you can not scroll wheel any more, this is a big problem for cops as we now can not ask civilians to leave the area in anyway. We use to scroll the pilots name and text them a RPed text asking them to leave. We now have no means of asking pilots to leave without needing to fire upon them. We need something quite urgently as we can now not issue compliance to any form of chopper.

 
Not only that it it's gonna be really difficult to find out the names of rule breakers unless you can see that imaginary thing floating above their head

 
It's something to do with the Eden update, and was not intentionally done.

 
I have ascertained that scroll wheeling still works if you are standing right next to the person, so if you get VDM'd, you might be able to get the name if you are quick.

As civillian & Rebel the only way to give a warning is by shooting Tracer rounds about 100 mtrs infront of the helicopter. Maby this could help for the time being.

Well i tried after being hit by a car at full speed at the Salt mine. ( clear VDM ) but didnt work ;) Even tilde key did not do the job.  I contacted ingame admin@Drewat that time but i had no name so it was a lost case.

He was going to talk to the staff about it.

Honestly I think this is perfect. Need to warn a heli? Shoot tracers. And well yea, the biggest problem is rulebreakers, VDM in particular. Either way I like it a lot more this way.

 
I'm trying to keep the game mods as active as possible at this time as well as some other members of the administration.

Please be patient whilst things are being worked out. 

It is a lot nicer in the server, I can actually feel how much I've been metagamed now which Is quite sad, as people are treating me VERY differently now.

I love that everyone now have a normal chat with someone to find out who it is ;)

I know cops will have a hard time but to be honest, rebels just shoot warning rounds and cops could do the same. I also know this might get some cop procedures not going so well, but i've been looking for a way to end with the mouse wheel for ages, this might be a big step, we will see.

 
Looking towards the long term future, could cops get a system where they can use a mobile message to all pilots on the entire server?
Not sure if its possible, but coded to only send mobile messages to people sitting in the Pilot seat of an aircraft.

Kind of trying to replicate that your communicating on a generic radio frequency.

 
If people are VDM'ing, the cop solution to this is to shoot the tyres out and check the license of the player once in custody if they have a facemask on since checking the license still shows the name at the top. Obviously if they disconnect, just looking into the bottom left should show them up and could be confirmed by seeing who the car owner is (obviously the car could be stolen so it is best done only to verify it was the right person and shouldn't be relied upon for reports).

@Ciaranis there anyway to make Cops broadcast messages in a certain radius?

I know everyone will get a message but, in real life if you have a megaphone, everyone around you will know what your trying to talk about.

Discuss, might get us into something.

People dont randomly turn their car around anymore just because its x in that car or x over there.

Wearing a mask or a Ghillie acually hides your identity.

I would be happy if it could stay like this.

would be easier to point at chopper, press a "hotkey" and it "hint" them a predefined message

 
I think the more important problem is it's now very difficult to obtain a rule breaker's name without being killed by them, especially if they wear a mask.

The heli problem can easly be solved with some sort of other initiation.

 
Perhaps there is a way cops can do a long range ANPR on a heli? Perhaps you have to aim and press a different key, because increasing the range of anpr would be havoc trying to scan the right vehicle and then getting one two streets away.. @Neo
