Horrible 1st experience

The Saga continues!  

So a Medic revives me after about 35 mins. All good, bit of fun roleplay. I withdraw cash from the machine in the hope that the sirens put of any theives. Drove around the corner into the truckstop... Say a box truck and a chap near it in full camo... That's clearly not his truck, As i start to turn I hear the start/stop of voice - so, just out of range.. then BOOM. Less than 2 mins after my revival.  

I spoke to the guys OOC, and the one who responded was obviously recording - Again, I have no doubt that they said the words, But I didnt hear them.  

About 5 mins later, The same medic revived me, and I messaged the guy who responded. He kindly sent me about half what he took from me as a goodwill - I didn't threaten him or lie or anything silly.. Just was honest, and spoke like an adult. I won't reveal the name because of any metagaming, but B... Thank you. 

Still never got my damn truck though!

 
This is a first - There was a hacker! I was in Kavala Car park recovering from my last thing, and planning to go to the airport, then suddenly all the cars and peaple flew into the air and killed everyone!

The lesson here is to just stay away from me...

Brother you send text to people who killed you,

you are not in a gang so no know one knows you dead !!!

Also Altis is as you know a devastated island, that's why you see very few people in the street!!! So please just be carefull It's not the average batty island, It's not average Island ! Didnt you notice ain't no kid or women around ??? Stay at home if you can't handle that shit! Like everywhere; your legs and your brain are your best friend. Run first think later ffs !!!!!!!!!

 
It was an OC message - That much was made clear - I', aware It should have been done in TS, but the sidechat was being swamped. If he didn't respond, I wouldn't have cared,. I just wanted to be heard - hopefully He will be more aware of the voice distance.

I imagine I'll have people wanting to hang out with me just for the opportunity to witness the Gods of Altis playing games with my fate!

As I've said above, I'm going to give it a few more weeks as a civilian to get used to controlling stuff like helicopters and getting to know my way round, Then apply to join the NHS. It'll be awesome to give back to the whitelisters who have helped me aswell as the random diamond geezers I have encountered. 

Annoyingly I could meet 15 really nice people in a gaming sesh, but it will only take 1 to mess it up!

Was also chatting with a LCN chap at the airport - Contrary to what I have read, He didn't rob me on sight! Had a nice chat with him and he hooked me up with a gun after I ferryed his car back to the garage for him. It was cool because I then felt safe enough to withdraw enough money to buy a sexy Red/Black Orca - Which matches my real life motorbike :p

Ohh I see, damn I love that film.

When I first made my gang "The Warriors" the movie was the inspiration behind the name - I'm not using their background though tbh - and It's a bit to late to change my name now so I'm just gonna roll with it.

I think you need to make a blood sacrifice to the gods, they may bestow upon you some good will and fortune.

Buddy, for some people the first time experience will be hard. The same was for me. I was down to 7k until I found a gang. On my first day in the gang I made my first 800k. Just join a gang that is the best way to play.

For sure - It's not made very clear how crime-ridden the island is, how easy it is to get mugged and it over-plays the recourse for the thieves. True, They will have a bounty and may get fined or chucked in the slammer, but mugging newbies is so easy that the threat of getting arrested every 10-15 muggings is worth it. a 50k fine is nothing when you have 1.5 mill in the bank! Ends up being more of a business expense!

My Last game was guild wars, and the good content really relies on groups, I was hoping that This would be one I could solo for a while to find me feet and discover what I wanted to do before committing to a gang. Luckily, I have now found what I want (NHS), and It's just a case of getting competent enough to do well at it.

Also I'm going on holiday in 2 weeks time for 2 weeks, So I wouldn't want to apply, Be a medic for 2 or 3 sessions, then be away for a fortnight!

 
@EsqyI've just read through your thread and your experience sounds not far from the experience I've had. Night before last night I was robbed for £180,000 after a copper run and I was around the corner from the cash point to bank it. Then yesterday just leaving the copper mine as I changed my mind to instead do an oil run, I was stopped by 3 lads who then found out I had nothing and decided to tell me "you may go, we aren't rebels" lol. And then I was stopped by 2 lads half an hour later before I got to the oil field, they found I had nothing. Then I got a stroke of luck, managed to sell my oil and bank the money but just after I garaged my truck and was walking up the road I was stopped by another 3 lads to find I had nothing but robbed me of £538 and my backpack. That was all within 3 hours. Not the most fun.

 
It is disheartening. It shows the importance of either joining a gang, or socialising with some people to create a group for these runs. The long and short of it is that because its a game, people believe they can get away with being dicks or are playing the Power game for whatever personal reasons they have.

Little do they realise that a simple robbing means that a whole hours worth of play for a relatively new user was rendered useless - A fact I think they forget once they have been playing a while.  

As much as I hate it, Altis is not really a solo-players game. You can bimble along ok, but you will just keep getting robbed but wont actually achieve anything of significance. I've avoided being in a gang because I don't want to do anything illegal, and I truly believe that just being nice will get me far. As a result, I was encouraged to join the NHS and @2Pachas also ordered me to join the police.

Off the back off all this, I managed to do an epic salt run over the weekend. It did not go to plan, and we ended up with a few casualties (Self inflicted) and lost a lot of money, but there was so much banter it made the game worth playing - I accidental joined a gang, but it's only so that I could keep track of our salt-run troupe, and its just me and @SPC Billyin it. So, Hit up Teamspeak and don't be afraid to chat to people. They are (for the most part) really nice chaps and chapettes. The more active you are in-game, on the forums and in TS, the more you will get to know people and forge alliances

 
Well if you're ever doing any legal activity, whether it be an oil run, salt, copper and it's OK for me to join the convoy, drop me a message and if love to tag a long.

It can be confusing - All of the 'Place name' rooms are public (Bristol, Glasgow etc.) and Usually if someone is sat in there, Others will join. Be a trend-setter, Bro :)
