It's definitely possible. The mission file wouldn't be "huge" either.
MCC Editor has plenty of things like that. You can force yourself to get a cinematic view of you & crew in a drop pod, its pretty awesome too.

Ok. First of all you said "Cheap Computer", this prompt me to thinks you might not even have the correct PSU to power the card.
Next thing to consider is does your PSU have the correct pin connectors to plug into the card?
