Why is the banning system like this?

I'm not having a rant now, it's a simple question with a bit of my reasoning behind the thought and question.

I've noticed that the perm ban section gets responds every 5-10 days, but if you check the normal ban section everyone posting appeals there get responses within a day or two, i see people getting denied and approved daily whereas the perm ban section again, it's every 5-10 days.

I'm wondering why there's such a big time difference in the sections, the way that i look at it is that people who are banned are because they probably broke a rule (maybe on purpose) and just want to get unbanned asap, it might take a few days or it could take a week, but for people who are perm banned and are appealing, they have all waited 6 months desperately wanting to join the server, but all these appeals get resolved in about a month to two months. Why is this? why does a normal ban take up to a week to resolve possibly more depending on the severity but perm bans which the users have already waited 6 months have to wait up to 5x more?

I'm not trying to cause any arguments, i'm just curious on the logic behind this specific banning system

Thanks :)

P.S. if this violates any rules just let me know and i'll take it down straight away, i just checked and i'm pretty sure it doesn't violate any of the forum rules :)

It's like that because we have a whole staff team dealing with standard appeals and about 4 people dealing with perms. On top of this, they are even lower priority due to the reasons for their bans in the first place.

Perm bans often take much more investigation in order to make a decision and hence we can't be quite as swift. If you got a perm ban, it's good will on our part that you get an appeal at all so it can't really be expected that we will hurry along for your benefit.

We don't make a conscious decision to do them slower, they just do take longer.

If I was in your position I wouldn't post this, you've already put up an appeal. It's quite simple..... wait! You've been banned for an unknown reason which is your fault, staff leads+ will deal with your appeal as it is a permanent ban

or just what Tom said, sent at the same time ;)

I'm a daring person what can i say, but i'm also very curious and i enjoy learning about how communities work and seems as this one is very strict compared to any other life server community, heck, any community i'd just like to know a bit more because i know it works very well and i just like to learn things :)

And thank you for your response, i understand why now. Has it always been this way?

We used to just not bother letting people appeal perm bans. Since we began the process, it has always been this thorough yes.

Just wondering why is it called a permanent ban if you can appeal it, would this not just be a normal ban?>

6 month ban implies that it will end after that time period though.
And permanent ban implies that it will never end, yet you can appeal it
