Warning shots?

So, last night me and my gang of 5, fully equipped, were processing cocaine. Then all of the sudden a LOT of shots are fired on the building. No idea why, we don't want to get RDM'ed so we metagame and tell in sidechat that they can't just open fire. Then the shooters say it is warning shots and after 2 minutes or something we see two of them coming to us. Tell us to put down weapons or we get sniped.

Obviously, one of refused and took down two of theirs (immeadiatly followed by a phone message by the dead guy saying we will get banned for RDM, lol.. He later said that was a joke tho). The rest of us got away and plan revenge, again obviously.

What I was wondering about this, is the following:

When are warning shots propper roleplay? We did not see a soul when the shots were fired. We had 3 helicopters there and 5 fully equipped rebels, ready for a fight. How are we supposed to know it's ''warning shots''? How are we supposed to know who warns us? Must we wait untill they are close enough for us not to have a chance? When we get shot at, we can't tell the difference between aimed or warning shots, so we will probably try and fight back. Will our kills be justified, since it were only ''warning shots'' being fired at us?

I feel warning shots are being used to easily by certain players (won't name names now..). You just shoot from 500m distance, knowing we won't immediatly know where they are, and as soon as you shoot back they kill you and it's no RDM.

If they fire the ''warning shots'' and you think: Fuck this I will take off in my heli! They will kill you, because they ''warned'' you and you flew away. But again, how do I know if you 1) try and hit me 2) try and warn me to stay and be robbed 3)try and warn me to leave?

I'd like some thoughts of the community on this, as it seriously confuses me. I think maybe next time, if you REALLY plan warning shots, take 1 mag of tracer ammo with you and use that or something..

Most of the times it's just as simple as this:

1. *shot flies near your head*

2. You shoot back in the general direction of the attacker.

3. You're dead- no RDM included!

That's what the warning shot is for, my dear friend. I can fully agree with you that distinguishing whether it's a shot that's meant to be lethal or just one that is going to simply fly by is a real pain the ass. Most of the times it is BOUND to sidechat MG, as there's no other way of contacting the person you don't know in character other than just approaching them, which is plain stupid.

We either gotta work on a system which allows us these kinds of RP or just get accustomed to that pretty sidechat MG occuring everyime a situation like this takes place.

btw, sidechat isn't a part of rp, but, warning shots is a stupid way to engage in rp, especially because the person/s who is being warned, might shoot back, and then we have a discussion on rdm or not. - and sending a text message could also be discussed, because how do they know your name? ;)

Unfortunatly warning shots from a distance, without someone nearby telling the victims those were warning shots kills good roleplay, in my opinion. For example, it would be way more fun if the robbers try to get one of the names of the victims first so they can call them. Make it an operation, not just camping, shooting, robbing, gone. This makes it more fun for all parties involved and encourages fair competetive play.

the server is all about RP, yes, it is fun to shoot people again and again, but when you get that awsome rp experience, where you get away with a boxed hemtt full of coke, you are laughing your ass of, because the cops had to let you go, the cops get frustrated and at the same time they love it. The cool thing is, you can rp your way out of all situations, and the reason we play on this server, is rp :)

My opinion on this is that starting to shoot on purose in the direction of others without saying anything is RDM because you have no information about what is going on, which means no roleplay is involved because roleplay and communication in general can only be done if 2 guy atleast see them cuz obviously you don´t know the other name so you can´t contact them by phone...

there are a few "communication models" out there if you want to see for your self.

Roleplay is obviously based on communication i mean duh... thus there was no roleplay involved which i my opinion is not in the servers interest.

Which then should result in a warning or something and if it is done again just ban!

I think the best way to avoid all of this is to send a team member in to say we have guns aimed at you submit or die. If they don't believe you here would be a good time to fire a warning shoot (after telling them).

This makes encounters fun. First of all the member unarmed is role playing and having fun taking the risk. Second the other team  members are alert waiting on one wrong move. Makes for a more fun game

Warning shots are a show of force for people who have already spotted eachother ie in an ambush/robbery. You do it if you what to scare the other into your control/submission.

How do you know if they are warning shots or the person is enaging you is a bad shot? My advice is to send a scout in first and have a chat with them and you never know you may even become partners.

Some time ago it was determined warning shots are not allowed. People used them as an excuse for killing and firing without prior interaction(Red Zone Excluded) is technically RDM. If you want to engage in a warning use your cell phone to send a threat to the opposing party. People don't seem to do that much anymore. If you say "Well texting while not knowing their name isn't RP." It was determined the best alternative. Think of creative way for it to make sense in the RP. "I checked the license plate on your HEMMT." etc.

Gunfire should not be used to initiate a roleplay, even if they are warning shots, i say this because there is no difference (from the victims POV) between warning shots opening a roleplay scenario, and some RDM cock trying to blow them away.

Warning shots should be used after a roleplay scenario has begun. eg. in a kidnapping situation, after the victim has been stopped and if they for whatever reason think the kidnappers are bluffing about their numbers, a couple of shots over the head or into the ground at their feet should suffice as a warning shot :p .

My opinion on this is that starting to shoot on purose in the direction of others without saying anything is RDM

Also, I love sado.
Wait, so you say that if a shot flies past your head, you have no right to shoot back just because you have no information about what's happening? Oh well, someone's shooting close to your head, that's what's happening!
