if you right click the adapter and click properties, can you show a picture of that window? It should look like this


 
I'm a little mystefied. Some googling doesnt show up much in the way of help, if you've got the drivers etc installed from your mobo manufacture site etc, i cant think why it wouldnt be working unless it was a DOA network card. Can you try opening device manager, find the Ethernet controller, and then right lcikc and uninstall device, check the box to remove device drivers for the ethernet card. Restart pc, and then re-install mobo drivers.

Thanks for the help but it is sorted now took it to the shop and he said it was a bios related issue which seems very odd however thank you very much for all your help mate :)
