Upgrade advice?

Hi all!

I've had my PC since 2021, it runs majority of games fine but FiveM specifically I get around 80-100 FPS but when the server gets busy and populated with lots of lights, modded vehicles etc it’s causes my FPS to drop 40-50.

These are my current specs:

PROCESSOR: Intel Core i9-10900K CPU, 10 Cores / 20 Threads, 3.7 - 5.3GHz

PSU: Corsair RM650x 80 PLUS Gold 650W PSU

GRAPHICS CARD: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070 8GB GDDR6 Graphics Card

CASE: Cooler Master MasterBox MB320L ARGB Tempered Glass - Black

MOTHERBOARD: Asus ROG STRIX Z490-G GAMING (WI-FI) MOTHERBOARD

COOLER: Corsair Hydro H100x CPU Cooler

RAM: 32GB Corsair Vengeance LPX Black DDR4 3200MHz Memory CAS 16 (4 x 8GB Sticks)

SSDs: 2TB Seagate Firecuda 520 M.2 PCIe Gen 4 Solid State Drive & 4TB Samsung 870 QVO Solid State Drive

I have turned majority of my settings down but with my specs I kinda think I shouldn’t need to? I was considering upgrading my RAM but my M/B doesn’t support DDR5. Is it worth going to 2x 16gb 3200/CAS 16 or even 2x 16gb 3600/CAS 16/18

Happy to run any benchmarking stuff it that’s recommended just let me know which

The Hardware looks fine as it is unless u wanna start playing on 4k or simlar,
even people with a over payed pc are getting shitty fps at peak times.
i ve got a 1070 (settings all low exept 1 or 3 things)
and its pretty mutch the same fps wise as u ve got
whenever i do feel that the game feels stuttery i delete cache and logs of fivem and i am good for 1 to 3 days depending how many updates the dev`s a fireing out.
(when ever i do that i need to rejoin 2 3 times just to make sure nothing is fucked)
(minor changes are mostly not seen in #changelog but they still "sometimes" fuck with ur game cache)
if u are server hopping i suggest to clear cache when u come back to rpuk.

Double check ur settings if they are all low,
(Reflection quality can be changed to your prefrence,
extended texture budget 50-60%,
ambient Occlusion is high for me
and tessellation verry high)

it might apply to gta online /story mode but fivem is full of mods and scripts i am sure most of the scripts in rpuk are as mutch optimized as possible. but they still wear a lil on your machine.


what u could try is debloat ur windows
change all windows settings to performance ,
it might removes some "windows animations" but i dont really need them either. (DO NOT USE ANY REGEDITS OF THE INTERNET)
add some more mb /gb to ur pagefile i prefer same gb as u ve got in ur ram slots if u ve got the space on ur ssd ofcourse.

last but not least, have you cleaned ur pc from the inside since u ve got the pc?
reapply some new thermal paste for your cpu cooler
made sure XMP is enabled in your Bios. (maybe update bios IF you ve got stability issues in general(Bluescreens/pc crashes))

How would I go about changing those windows settings? I’ve definitely got XMP enabled and I clean my PC regularly (I haven’t reapplied thermal paste since I got the PC though)

I’ve got 32gb RAM (4x8gb) so should I put my pagefile to 32000mb? Not really sure how pagefile works!

Depends on what windows u ve got 11 or 10
w10 just do everything unless what comes after debloat and a system restore point only if u deem it useable
w11 this is mainly debloat, most stuff in the w10 link can be also used for w11 (settings wise)
Make sure you watch the vids before u do stuff.

I think the highest my CPU temps I have seen are 83.

83 is still fine too at 90 u should start to worry
