Actually after doing some speedy research, is the island of Altis in real life is based off of the island of Limnos near Greece. On such island it is highly common to find a species of whale, specifically the Blue Whale in the tranquil marinas of the island. Therefore on such a small island it is probably unheard off to find a group or even a single cow.
