Ban Reason: 1.6 and UNK
Why do you think you were banned: I was banned due to a dip in roleplay standards, as well as my mentality to get involved in as many gunfights as possible rather than providing quality roleplay.
When I first got banned, I made a ticket (23438) not in hope of getting the outcome overturned, but to have a conversation with a member of staff to go into further detail about the ban so that I could fully understand what I had done and learn from it. This is when Daanv and I had a conversation, and he explained to me the full extent of the ban.
I also believe I have been community banned. After speaking to some people and from what I can read, it’s due to some members of my previous group spamming 'frag' videos in the roleplay.co.uk Discords (please correct me if I’m wrong). I would like to plead my innocence in this matter, as I had nothing to do with any of this. When I initially got banned, it was hard to accept, but I would never have risked my place in the community by taking part in disruptive acts. I wanted to speak about this matter sooner, as I have missed being involved in the community but I thought it would be more appropriate to wait until my given date.
Why should we unban you: I would like to start off this appeal by pre-emptively thanking the staff members who are having to deal with this, I completely understand that I didn’t have to be given an opportunity to appeal which is why I will also like to thank management for this decision.
It has been 193 days since I was banned, and I can confidently say I understand why the staff made the decision they did with issuing out the blanket ban. I'm ashamed of myself for putting you in the position where you had to make that difficult decision. I have been in this community for almost two years now, and the last thing I ever wanted was to make people unhappy with my presence, its something I should've picked up on before it got to the extent it did so I can only apologise to whom my actions affected.
During my time away I have reflected and replayed some incidents in my head to where I believe my roleplay dropped; During my time in Alliance we seemed to be constantly fighting other gangs or even police. I can accept that this isn't a good enough standard as I believe gunfights should be a last resort and if they happen its done after good roleplay which there normally wasn't. After replaying incidents in my head a specific change in my roleplay which I'm not proud of but recall is even after having gunfights with police I would provide the bare minimum roleplay, that being through /me's and just bleeding out on the scene rather than roleplaying. 'Winning' a situation was never something I cared about but I can now accept is something that changed in me. As someone who has been in the police force (never made it past probie stage) I can imagine the frustration that my roleplay would've caused so I would like to directly apologise to those Officers who had to experience that stage of my roleplay standards.
Below are some examples where I believe I have dedicated good roleplay in many different ways, which I hope you can see make me a valuable member of this community. I have gone into a bit more detail just to give some context on Will Rozier's history:
When I first joined the server, it was my first time playing roleplay after watching it for many years. I was trying to get a feel for everything and found myself meeting a good group of people and getting a job at the Taxi Auto Centre. Some new players in the community might not be aware of what this was, but we used to dedicate hundreds of hours of our time renting out 'max' taxis to people. It also consisted of us doing the cheapest repairs in the city at our garage and offering call out repairs. All three of the above consisted of me providing high quality roleplay, with us even getting praised on the forums and achieving our own custom clothing with keys to the building. I would just like to point out, in case of any concerns, that I did not take part in this company for 'money.' We made a bare minimum of 2k per taxi we rented out and I never made more than 10k an hour, but I chose to do it for hours on end due to the good roleplay and interactions it had with many members of the community.
Following on from my time at the Taxi Auto Centre, I had an opportunity at Otto's, where I was working as a car salesman under Niamh and Frank's ownership. During my short time at this company, there were many altercations between the owners and my friendship group (my mates from the Taxi Auto Centre). These altercations then led to a shootout where some Otto's staff killed my TAC mates and went to dump them. Due to being an employee of Otto's, I had access to the 'groupie' chat, which is conveniently enough where they sent the GPS of the dumping. In this moment, I had to make a decision to either be loyal to my new 'high-paying' job or to go and rescue my friends. I made my decision and got armed to go and save them. After arriving at the GPS, it involved me killing two Otto staff. I made a mistake and never took their phone and radio, which led to me being compromised and vulnerable to payback. Knowing this, rather than going into hiding I thought it would be a good opportunity to write a funny news article using the knowledge I had obtained, pointing out all of the 'dodgy' business being done at Otto's. (I had to remove this article for future endeavours ~ will explain below).
During my time on the server, one of the things I enjoyed doing the most was writing Weazel News articles. I always had people coming up to me and praising them, which always encouraged me to do more. Due to my constant work, I was promoted to a 'senior' role which is the highest you can achieve. This meant a lot to me IC and OOC, as this new role gave me a lot of responsibility in hiring people and managing other employees. Hiring employees was an important aspect of the position, as I was able to give new players opportunities that might help them enjoy the server. During the hiring process it required me to do interviews, which is where I would demonstrate my high-quality roleplay and hopefully be a good example to them (can provide clips if you're curious).
My favourite thing I ever did on the server was create a company called 'Deliverwho', this was, as you could imagine, a food courier service. The reason I enjoyed this so much, and so did others, is because there was a lot of RP put into it. We made such a good first impression that loads of people wanted to join us, which allowed me to give others the opportunity to enjoy it by working for Deliverwho. Deliverwho was never made for the money, we never charged a delivery fee; it was solely done due to the enjoyment that everyone got from it, which to me is what RP is all about. (Can provide clips if you're curious)
Later on in Will Rozier's history, I got a salesman job at Mosley's, which was under the management of Niamh. Due to the history between my character and Niamh (mentioned above), it required me to come clean in the interview and explain/apologise for my side of the story (was a funny interaction). It then made sense for me to delete my previous Weazel News post regarding her previous company. Working at a car dealership does require good roleplay, It's important because you could be a new player's first interaction when they are looking for cars to buy on a new server and you want to leave a good first impression.
As well as my attempts IC to be a good member of this community, I also tried to be valuable OOC. This was by being active in the help channel on RPUK's Discord, making bug report tickets about potential exploits, and taking part in suggestions on the website.
Like I stated earlier, I'm nearing my two year anniversary of being in this community, and during this time, I have dedicated thousands of hours to the server. During this time, I have kept a clean record with this incident being my first ban. I hope this shows that before my ties with my previous group, I always roleplayed to a high level following the server rules and community rules, even to the point where I have never been reported by another player. I do hope that my previous clean record allows you to trust me in letting me back into the community and that, if you were to trust me you wouldn't have to worry about me being a disruption to the community.
As a summary, I can admit that I got caught up in a frag/win mentality, where all it seemed I was doing was getting into gunfights. Now while this was true, I hope that everything I have stated above allows you to feel confident that it wasn't intentional and that I got carried away in the moment, which will never happen again as It has come with a lot of regret and disappointment in myself. Everything I have stated above is much more valuable to me, and if it meant that I never had to touch a gun again to experience my favourite parts of roleplay, then that's a sacrifice I would take 1,000 out of 1,000 times.
If there is anything above that you may have questions about please let me know, and I want to re-iterate my appreciation in letting me appeal and for dedicating your time to this appeal.
Please confirm that you have read the unban appeal process and rules: Yes
