In your own words, please type why you think you were banned.: I texted in game the F slur to my IRL best friend but we were just joking around.

Why should we unban you ?: Me and my IRL best friend were just joking with each other in text messages in game, IRL we both say 'Fartgot' as a joke to each other IRL just because it sounds funny with 'fart' at the front. (stupid I know) He messaged that to me in text and i was replying to him in character saying 'I dont know what fartgot means but it sounds funny, it kinda sounds like F**got' and as soon as i sent it i got banned. In no way was i actually calling him the F slur and nor would I ever call anybody else the F slur. My other IRL friend is actually gay and so i would never ever say that word to attack or offend anybody. I genuinely love this server, i've tried about 15 other servers before joining this one and this one is by far my favourite. I've put in at least 6 hours a day of play time every day for the past week and a half on this server, i've made lots of friends on here and i was planning on staying on this server for the foreseeable future. My friends name in game is 'Chauncy Slammerson' idk if its possible for you to speak to him or not but if you do then he will confirm what i have said in this appeal. I really hope you understand, and even though the context that i typed the F slur to my friend was not in a hurtful way, I am still genuinely sorry for what i typed. It will not happen again if I am unbanned. Thanks.

If these are IRL friends why would you risk speaking like this on a server where it would be against rules to say stuff like this?

It was just a case of me really not thinking about what I what I was typing. I realised immediately after pressing enter to send the message that I just typed out a word that was against the rules, and then I got banned instantly. Its the first time ive ever typed that word on any server that ive played on, I never use that word because i know that its a harmful one, even though in this context it was not meant in a harmful way at all. I guess because I was messaging my IRL friend on the in game phone, in that moment I just wasn't thinking about the rules like I should have been. I can assure you that if i am unbanned that this will never happen again and I will be thinking about the rules before typing anything else in game. I've learnt my lesson from this, that i need to always have the rules in my mind when interacting with people in game, weather it be one of my IRL friends or any other player.

I appreciate the quick reply.

The first rule I broke:

"(C1.7) Common Sense - As a Roleplay game, every situation is different and not everything can be detailed within these rules and so it is important to remember this is an adult community and some things simply come down to common sense."

This rule essentially means that everyone on the server needs to be using their common sense at all times whilst playing in different roleplay situations, just like you need to in real life. There's certain things that everybody just knows that you shouldn't do and it is completely impossible to create a rule for every single little thing, so this rule is kind of a broad rule to account for those. As an example, in my case I said a hateful word that you should obviously never use, weather it be in game or out of game. Therefore I did not use my common sense during that moment. 

Like I said this is a pretty broad rule but I believe this rule is necessary to have in place to try and ensure that all the roleplay situations people may have are ultimately good roleplay experiences that make sense and that nobody does or says anything stupid or offensive that could completely ruin the experience for other players.

The second rule I broke: 

"(C1.2) Discrimination - Do not express discriminatory or otherwise offensive views. This is no place for racism, religious hatred, ageism, sexism, homophobia, gender or disability discrimination."

This rule means that nobody should ever use discriminatory language on the server. Weather it be using your voice, in OOC chat or on any of the apps on the phone that you can use to communicate with other players. Even if you don't necessarily mean it in a hateful or discriminatory way, the slurs that exist originally come from a place of hatred, and so should never be used.

This rule is in place to try and eliminate any hate towards players based on their race, sex, religion, disability, sexual orientation or age. It's by far one of the most important rules to have in place, due to the fact that there is so much hate in todays world and lots of people come to play GTA RP as an escape from this. This server serves as a sort of 'safe haven' for many of the players here, and so they should never have to hear this language, weather it be directed to them, to another player or just hearing a discriminatory word in passing. 

Using any discriminatory language towards other players is, i'd say, the absolute worst thing that you can do with your words. In lots of cases it causes horrible long lasting mental damage to the target of the discrimination, usually resulting in them feeling like they're not good enough just because they may be different to you. In extreme cases it can end much worse than that, with people harming themselves or ultimately ending their own life.  I don't know what is going on in other players real lives, and so if I use a word that I may not think will actually cause any damage and somebody hears it, it could actually cause a massive amount of damage and could potentially be the final straw for that person, causing them to do something drastic. Servers like this bring people together and a lot of the time give people a sense of community and belonging, which some of them might not necessarily have in real life, and so it's not fair that people may feel like they need to leave the server because of horrible language that another player has said.

I'm willing to give you a chance to play here again. However, the discriminatory references and words do need to stop. Regardless if its to your friend or not, we don't allow it on our servers.

Any ban within 6 months will lead you right back here due to Fair Ban System
