Unban Appeal for boltamist

In-game Name: Boltamist

Server: Discord

Steam ID: 76561198170194458

Ban ID: None

Reason given for your ban: Arguing in General Chat

In your own words, please type why you think you were banned.: Hello, I was banned from the Discord almost 9 months ago for arguing with some people in the general chat of the Discord server - obviously this is needed to get into the server. The argument got quite heated for no reason and I would like to apologise for the attitude I displayed. I believe the owner banned me and some other people after the dispute came to an end.

Why should we unban you ?: A considerable amount of time has passed since I was banned and I would like to get back into GTA RP with my friend. RPUK is a very good server that I have played and enjoyed in the past, and I would like to be given a second chance to come back and enjoy it once again. I have always tried to be a positive influence in the communities I join and I would like to be given a chance to prove that again. Thank you for reading and I hope you consider my appeal!

Please confirm that you have read the unban appeal process and rules: Yes

I forgot to include the ID for the Discord account I was banned on so here it is - though I'm not too sure how it works with the new update:

Discord User ID: 248919807909560320
Discord Name: therealbiggiesmalls

I hope this helps, and again, I would like to apologise for my past actions. I've since curbed my attitude and I assure you this kind of behaviour won't happen again.

Thanks, Boltamist.

Locked three days for bumping.

Whilst, you were being helpful in giving us the proper information to process your appeal. We have edit functions on threads for this very reason..

Are you sure "arguing" is how you wish to categorise your behaviour?

Perhaps the term "Arguing" is an understatement, considering some of the things I likely said - I cannot comment on specifics as I do not have the logs, though I would like to reiterate my apologies both to the people I engaged with and the staff team for having to intervene.

However, as I mentioned in my appeal, I have a changed attitude. This happened over 9 months ago and I have definitely curbed my language towards other people - I assure you I shan't allow people to rile me up in that manner again.

I escalated the situation needlessly, and for that I apologise too.  In the future, I doubt I will engage much with the discord community as I find that some of them bring the worst out in me; a few people from the server were arguing with me in DM's whilst this was happening too, though I don't have photos of that anymore, you'll just have to take my word.

Overall, I hope you can see my side of the story, considering not only what I said but what other people said to me in return, and I hope you give me a second chance - I enjoyed playing the server all that time ago and I would like to do so again.

Thanks, Boltamist.

I mean - you played the server for a bit and less than a week later you jumped into discord and were immediately rude, hostile and to some people, downright nasty.

No-one riled you up in the first instance. You were told to find information out in RP and decided to start insulting people. I'm not going to let you play the victim card.

I'm not sure what more I can say - why would I ever want to let you back? You started it, take responsibility.

Maybe you're right; some of those things are pretty diabolical if you ask me.  Like I said, I apologise for the things I said back then - neither you nor me can turn back time and erase it.  Shit looks AI generated.

Not even sure what irked me so much about the whole ordeal. Something about the term, "find out in game" is such a foo-bar response to me, and if you don't agree then that is your prerogative.  All I wanted to do was find out who was able to sell cars and when they would be online. If they weren't the person I was asking for, or representing someone as such, then why respond?

I accept that I was hostile straight off the bat, and for that I am truly sorry, but being told "Don't ask here" in a discord for the FiveM server where everyone is talking about the same topics?  I wouldn't have come to the discord asking the question if I hadn't already asked a million times in game; like you said, I had already been playing RPUK for almost a week straight, and I've been in the FiveM scene for years.

I won't, and haven't, passed on my portion of the blame - that is why I am making a ban appeal. But to accuse me of 'playing the victim', I feel is unfair.  What is it in Liam's bio?? "Context matters".  Maybe I did start it all off by being rude, or maybe someone could have answered my question with a real response.  Maybe I could've ignored it, but where does that get me, and vice versa.  Either way, my question went unanswered and the people who I wanted to talk to in the first place no longer wanted to interact; I suppose understandably so.

Truthfully, I can be exceptionally toxic, and you can see that straight up, but it is still wrong to go acting like nobody else in the discord kept it going or are equally to blame.  Cherry picking that one slice of text is disingenuous - I had maybe 5 different people insulting me and continuing the argument, and a slew of others in my DM's trying to get me into more trouble. If I had the proof I'd give it; you seem to so why not supply it all?  I also find it disturbing that the Owner of the server was the only person to intervene.  At almost 8pm I would expect at least a moderator to be online in the discord to try and resolve the issue, but it really took the owner to ban me to stop the mayhem?  Yikes.

I'm not sure what more you want me to give than my apologies; it's been 9 months since this happened and all I can assure is that something like this doesn't happen again.  I am a far more tempered person than I was back then, and a second opportunity to prove that is all I can give in recompense.  If anyone would like a personal apology for what happened, I would be more than happy to give that too as a show of my acceptance of wrong doing.

I hope this satisfies your questions,  Boltamist.

That is the standard answer, anything else and they would be breaching G3.1.

Truthfully, I can be exceptionally toxic
Can see that from the messages you sent into the discord on the day of you ban, it isnt just the ones weve shown here. Tell me why would we want to let someone who is toxic back into the community and risk something like this happening again?

To me it doesn't really seem like you really do see the wrongdoing in your actions as you consistently try and shift the blame at least partially to justify your actions? It seems you are only apologising as a formality as a part of the unban appeal and not because you actually see fault in your actions.

Tell me how I can know this won't happen again? What if something triggers you again? Will you react the same way?

What will it take to convince you?  I made my points and explained them well in my opinion.  I have been playing RPUK since it was an ARMA3 server bro; whatever more you want from me I don't think I can actually give.

I made a point of apologising for my portion of the dispute, multiple times.  Again, you have pointed out the things I said and excluded all the other vitriol that was spewed in my direction but I suppose this is my ban appeal not theirs.

Either way, you have my word that I won't be toxic in the discord again.  Just asking for another chance to play with my friends is all.

If you don't even know what you want from me as an apology then there really isn't anything I can do about that other than say I'm sorry you feel that way.

Like I have said in all of my previous responses, I am sorry to those who might have been upset by the things I said.  Not sure what more I can do for you considering my word apparently isn't proof enough of the claims I have made.  Feels like most of my points have just been hushed over or dismissed too.

The things I said were rude and unnecessary, that much is evident and I haven't really disputed as such.  What Pheonix1K said about my play-time isn't really accurate.  I've been in the GTARP (and ARMA3) Roleplay UK scene since the beginning of time - I know the rules, where I have gone wrong and what not to do both presently and in the future.

For something that happened 9 months ago, this appeal has gone on for almost a week and has been bounced between 3 different moderators; I've put time and consideration into all of my responses and if you can't see the genuineness of that then there isn't much more that needs to be said.

All seems a bit daft if you ask me.  Hot take: Internet drama is boring.  9 months is a lot of time to get over some dumb text on a screen with a clown emoji, both on my end and those I said it to.

Thanks, and my apologies again,

Boltamist.

It doesn't matter how long ago it happened, it happened and you still have to go through the appeals process the same way as everyone else. You received your first reply 3 days ago as your appeal was locked for bumping. Appeals are not limited to one staff member, any staff member can deal with any appeal and respond to an appeal as they see fit..

9 months is a lot of time to get over some dumb text on a screen with a clown emoji, both on my end and those I said it to.

You are the one who decided to wait 9 months to appeal, regardless of when it happened, it still happened.

Ive asked you twice now to answer a question, and both times you have avoided answering it. Ill ask again..

If a similar situation was to happen again and it triggered you, how would you deal with it differently?

If a similar situation was to happen again and it triggered you, how would you deal with it differently?
Firstly, I don't think it should have triggered a response like that from me at all - the reply I received was a helpful, truthful and accurate reply that did not warrant a hostile response.  To deal with it differently, I shan't ask arbitrary questions in the future that could be answered elsewhere.  But that isn't the issue at hand - the hostility in my response was uncalled for and again, I am sorry that I acted as such.

I understand the importance of fostering a friendly community for servers like this.  The last thing I want is to be a detriment to that - and the only thing I can do to assure something like this does not happen again, is give my word that I shall not act out in this way again.  I should have considered what was said in response to my question as being valid, rather than taking it as something hostile.

I referenced my toxicity in a previous response; my anger issues are not the concerns of other people, and they should not suffer the brunt of it as such.  Whilst this is not an excuse, because it is simply inexcusable, I have since - and always will continue to - try to improve myself as a person.

After being banned from the Discord, and consequently the FiveM server, I haven't really engaged with the FiveM community, but I would like to do so again.  RoleplayUK has been a staple in the RP scene for many years - as I eluded to in reference to the Arma3 server I frequented in the past.  Despite not making an appeal for 9 months, I have definitely had time to reflect on the attitude I portray online.

I would like to be offered a second chance to redeem myself; I understand where I have gone wrong, and I know what I must do to assure that nothing like this happens again.  I hope that, in the future, I can be a positive influence in the community if I am permitted to return.
