Unable to Swim

Hey guys, I'm new to the server and forum.

I just wondered how to actually move forward and backwards underwater ? I got stuck at the side of my boat, and after pushing my boat away and spamming the V key (I was told this would work), nothing would happen. All I can do is dive and resurface, but not actually move forwards or backwards. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

If I'm by the shore I can swim and dive and resurface etc no problem at all, but just when I got out of my boat I couldn't.

I'd double check your controls and the play the underwater scenario.

Instead of spamming v press the windows key to push it

Press Shift J to put your hands on your head, and then again to drop them, you should be able to swim after this.
