Banned
In-game Name
Rob

Steam ID

The date of your ban.
08/02/2017

Member of the team that banned you.
Vladic Ka

Reason given for your ban.
Metagaming

The Server you initially were banned on.
Server 1

In your own words, please type why you think you were banned.
Was helping Saul (Administrator) with some Bug-finding (seeing if the gate at Kav PD could be hopped over) and was speaking to him casually about the PD, etc. I saw that TCK had crashed in the server side and, speaking to Saul, laughed and said "Lol, TCK just crashed". My intention was, of course, not to meta game - I wouldn't say something like that unless I was speaking to an Admin.

I initially received a small warning, where I then went to watch Vladic's stream. He was discussing about the YR program and how it's a failure, etc. He was pinning the bulk of the blame onto Fergus (I believe you may be able to rewatch the Stream once it's done?) and I respectfully disagreed. This is a CTRL C/CTRL V of exactly what I said.

E__Albrecht: (PC Rob here) Vladic, I am the first person to jump on Fergus's back when he fucks up, but pinning all the YR problems on him? Seems a bit much, don't you think? Just an IMO

He then said, again, that most of the problems were due to Fergus. Before finishing his sentence, he said "Weren't you the guy that was Meta gaming earlier?" I replied with the following.

E__Albrecht: Not really meta though, was it? Was laughing about TCK to an Admin. AFAIK Admin's don't have to be spoken to in character. Apologies if I'm wrong.

He said I was arguing with him on Stream, and that I had apparently come on Stream to argue with him. He said he would then ban me then and there, and that it was immediately appeal-able.

Consequently, I was banned.

Here is the rest of the conversation I got together, a summary of all my replies.

E__Albrecht: Besides, I was using it to no advantage whatsoever.
John_Fletcher_RP: @e__albrecht but it was , if you talk about it in game it's a meta no matter what.
(Vladic accuses me of arguing) E__Albrecht: Vladic, I'm not arguing with you, not my intention
E__Albrecht: Vladic, I didn't come to your stream to talk shit - I was speaking to an admin. Again, apologies if I was wrong.

Why should we unban you ?
I have never been a rulebreaking player, always sticking vehemently to the rules and apologising when things may have gotten out of hand. I have never metagamed, never had the intention to, and I've never been a rulebreaker apart from a rocky beginning, which has never been repeated.

As very obvious by my tone in my replies on Stream, I had no intention of arguing and wanted it to go no further, but I simply was saying that I was under the belief that it was not Meta, and that if corrected, I firmly apologise. I made it very clear that if I was in the wrong, I was apologetic, but my knowledge led me to believe that since I was speaking to an Administrator, I did not have to be in character.

Furthermore, (4.1) Side Chat - Using intelligence gained on side chat to influence actions in game. Punishment is a kick/ban.

My small chuckle at TCK crashing offered me no advantage and influenced no decisions in-game.

Furthermore, it is very evident that I had absolutely no intention of going on Stream to debate my warning - He was actually the first one to bringing it up, calling me a metagamer. I came to watch the Stream and relax. I disagreed with the YR issue and he then continued to bring up a previous incident, which was supposedly dealt with. I, of course, replied, which escalated to this.

When laughing at that small TCK crash, I was speaking strictly to the Administrator at hand, as I was helping him see if I could vault through the gate. I would absolutely not say that on a normal day in character.

Right.

Part 1 - You metagamed, you read something out from sidechat into game, you may have been helping the admin which is appreciated, however what you read out was really not needed with what you was doing really was it? which is why it was classed as metagaming. You we're given a warning which is fair. (Regarding the out of character to admins. This is mainly for when admin's are helping new people, or we are speaking to a rule breaker for example. If you are helping an admin, ideally you should be in a channel with him that way you do not break roleplay in game as you are still a "character" at the end of the day")

Part 2 - the part you massively messed up in, you decided to go onto vlad's stream and discuss your ban, even though that may not have been your intentions, you did do it. When the conversation was going south, you could have just ignored what was being said or even leave the stream. but you decided to stay and then face the punishment which was rightly given out.

You seem like you know what you did was wrong so I'm just going to cut to the chase with this appeal.

What would you do if you was in a similar situation?

Right.

Discussed this with Vladic, understood. I had misinterpreted the rule and that's been addressed - won't happen again.

What would you do if you was in a similar situation?
Ideally not speak to an Admin OOC unless I'm being questioned. If that had happened and I had been warned (not that it will happen again!), I would then continue to watch the Stream and ignore any further discussion regarding what happened moments ago, as it'd be unnecessary.

Obviously, also not Meta. That one is without question.

Sorry for the late reply, I went to see Dunkirk.

Thought I'd elaborate some more since I was tired last night. @Robbie

however what you read out was really not needed with what you was doing really was it?
No, and I apologise for that. At the time I was unaware that you could not speak OOC to an Admin unless you were answering his questions. Of course, now I am aware, and know not to interact unless being questioned.

you decided to go onto vlad's stream and discuss your ban
I didn't make the decision to go there to discuss my ban, that is simply not true. I went there to watch the Stream, and the issue of me and meta earlier was brought up by John Fletcher and Vladic, which I responded to. Although....

When the conversation was going south, you could have just ignored what was being said or even leave the stream
....I agree it would have been the smartest decision to refuse to comment any further. For future notice, I won't discuss previous punishments; in any context it can lead to dissent.

What would you do if you was in a similar situation?
Not had spoken to an Admin OOC in Direct for a start, and not mentioned the TCK crash. If that had happened, I would have then accepted the warning and gone to watch the Stream, at which point, if I was approached and asked about the Meta issue, I would either ignore it or refuse to comment any further, as it has been dealt with.
