Reason given for your ban.
"Abusive"

The Server you initially were banned on.
Server 1

In your own words, please type why you think you were banned.
To clarify, I created a ban appeal prior to having an account and for that reason it is not linked to my account and also doesn't show up on the forums so I believe it hasn't went through. I am re-attempting my appeal.

I was banned for making an abusive comment towards another player via side channel when it wasn't warranted nor was it something that followed the rules of the server.

Why should we unban you ?
I have been thoroughly enjoying the Altis Life UK experience over the last few days with my friends and I believe that it's currently the best Altis Life experience on offer in Arma 3.

Like most players, and as is expected by the rules, I was mature and keen to participate when roleplaying with other players throughout my stay and I was always on the lookout to engage with new players and to get myself involved and immersed in new roleplaying situations.

I slipped up and was silly enough to direct abuse at another player over side channel when it's something that I shouldn't have been involved in nor was it something that I should have said in the first place. I was promptly banned following the comment that I made and I know that the situation got out of hand on my end and that being abusive towards other players isn't something that will stand in this community and that's something I can thoroughly respect.

I'd love to have another chance at redemption to allow me to become a part of the community once again, this time with a fresh mindset, knowing when to say something and when to keep my mouth shut. It's better to stay quiet than to say something that may not be pleasing to other players.

Cheers!

How do we know that you won't just 'slip up' again?
In terms of how I went about my actions and how I incorrectly reacted to another player's actions over sidechat that made me slip up, I'd say that I've definitely learned my lesson in not taking sidechat too seriously. It's not worth getting combative with someone that is only looking for a reaction or isn't wanting to have a proper discussion or back and forth and instead wants to act in a certain way.

I instantly regretted my actions, in one part because what I said wasn't nice, nor was it something that was acceptable to say from one person to another regardless of the situation and that's something I've accepted. I also regretted it because the punishment was swift and fair, as outlined when I began playing in the server. I cherished and enjoyed my stay in the Altis Life UK community and having another chance at that isn't something I'd want to give up so easily. I'd love to get back into the community and enjoy myself once more, with a more level head and a clearer mind.

Right you started off by saying the right thing, by asking the person to stop metagaming in sidechat. The person who was doing was new to the server btw and clearly he didn't know better, instead of doing to right thing and possibly get staff to go speak to him you decided to verbally assault him over sidechat and possibly offend others by what you said.

Is this the sort of toxic behavior we will be seeing from you if we unban you? As you can mostly likely tell this in not acceptable and just straight up disrespectful.

I definitely agree that the right action was to inform the player in a non-aggressive manner that he was metagaming in side chat which is not allowed, and to then perhaps inform an administrator via the Admin Contact option in the in-game mobile if the situation didn't change. It was incorrect to say something so offensive that could have potentially offended many of the players on the server. Even if this were something that wasn't against the server rules (but I'm more than aware that it definitely is), it'd still be a stupid and hurtful thing to say and I'm very much aware of that and I'm incredibly sorry for my actions.

If I'm unbanned then that sort of behaviour won't be seen from me again and I'd make my best attempt to be nothing but courteous and helpful to players over sidechat if the situation allows for it. Otherwise I'll look to continue my trend of strong roleplay and participation in the community. I've really enjoyed reading the forums recently and the wide range of topics available is very encouraging so that's something I'd love to get involved in too.

As I did when I first joined, I've had another read through the rules and I feel more than satisfied with my understanding of the rules. I've made a big mistake in being so disrespectful and disregarding of other people's feelings when I verbally abused the player over sidechat and it's something I strongly regret. I can appreciate that you've been willing to listen to my appeal; the professionalism has been nothing but stellar from your staff throughout this process.

Cheers.

Rules aside, why would you say this to someone?
The term's misappropriation as an insult has become much more common recently. That's not an excuse, nor does it make saying it any better.

It's a stupid thing to use a mental illness as a potential insult and the same goes for other terms such as cancer, AIDS etc. that are used as insults or adjectives. The rightful response I've received from using this term from the 4 members of your staff, three from this thread as well as Drew who took action, has definitely been eye-opening and it's solidified the fact in my mind that using the term as an insult or in any incorrect manner isn't something that a grown man (or anyone with any common sense) should be doing. I can assure you, and as you'll see from my other brief sidechat interactions that you may have logged, that I aim to be a mature and responsible player.

I very much understand it was an awful thing to say and it's not something I'd want to say again, especially in such a public space. I was on voice comms. with a friend of mine shortly after the situation who made a similar comment to yourself and questioned why I thought it was the correct thing to say to someone and I do agree that the punishment was deserved.

Following my reflection on the situation, I do hope you can understand my remorse and consider giving me another chance to return to the servers.

Cheers.

I appreciate the amount of effort you've put into your appeal, and I can tell you are genuinely regretful of what you have done.

Are you ready to follow all of our rules?

Do you also understand that if this happens again, it will be a permanent ban?

That's very much appreciated, I'm glad you can understand my perspective and as I said before, I'm very thankful for having the opportunity to appeal and having a professional and courteous audience to hear my claim.

I'm more than ready to follow each and every rule when I rejoin the community.

I very much understand that if a similar incident happens again that I'll be permanently banned and I believe that's more than fair.

Cheers.

I'm going to unban you - Please don't make me regret it.
