The Server you initially were banned on.
Server 2

In your own words, please type why you think you were banned.
I was banned for shooting and killing an NCA Patrol without giving a sufficient amount of Roleplay. We had spotted the NCA Patrol heading towards the Blood Diamond Cutter. Myself and the Amnesia gang decided we were going to hold them up, so we could gain black carrier rigs. I landed in the middle of Charkia, dropping Andy and Alonso off. Then to land myself on the outskirts. I heard Andy say he was going to initiate over teamspeak, he went over to the NCA Hatchback and and told them what is said in the video. I was told we can shoot them. So as they drove past me, I sprayed at their vehicle to disable the tyres. The officers stopped up the hill behind the rock, we looked at each other and the NCA Officer opened fire on me. I then shot back at the NCA officers in return. The Staff Team banned me because the ‘initiation’ that Andy gave was not up to the standard expected on this community. And I took action on the low quality of Roleplay. I was banned for 2.8, threatening to report as when the staff team checked my chat logs they found me messaging MikeRaft, a gang member of mine with “I am reporting you for not following the proper medical procedures. Poor Rp.” This was around 30 minutes before the situation at the Blood Diamond Cutter. At the time, I considered the comment to be a joke between myself and MikeRaft as he revived two hobos as a civilian with a defib. I have learnt a large lesson from this experience and will take the rules as a lot more serious matter and to think before I post. In-case you were interested, here is a video to what happened at the Blood Diamond Cutter:

From the video provided, I can see and understand why the Staff and the police would not be satisfied with the roleplay, or the lack of it. I could not see into where Andy was talking and didn't know the full context of what happened. I shot wearing a metaphoric blindfold on, and I own up to what happened.

Why should we unban you ?
I feel that I should be unbanned because I am a loyal member of the community. Despite my previous warnings throughout the server, I feel that I bring a positive impact into the community. This was a one off situation, and does not reflect my attitude and self towards the roleplay within the community. I have not only let the staff team and community down, but I have let myself down. I am aware that it has only been a short period of time within my ban and appeal. However during my last ban from the server, I felt a large amount of pain not being able to wake up in the morning and play on RoleplayUK. I don't want to suffer the exclusion from the server, and many of my new found friends play on the server so it restricts me from playing with them.

What will I do to prevent myself from doing this again? In the future, I will select who I play with to be people who know the rules inside out. This will positively impact myself in learning more in depth about the rebel life. I am not saying that I don't understand the rules, but I want to surround myself with the people who know it better and or equal than me. This is so that I can be influenced with their knowledge. In addition, I will more frequently visit Kavala to interact with the people in the square. I feel that I have neglected roleplaying with fresh spawns. In the last week, I have shown a couple people how to get started on Altis by purchasing an aluminium licence for them, I would like to do more of this. When we interact with other people as a group, I will ensure that I am present and there to roleplay with others. When playing with friends and others, I will construct myself to act more sensibly, and will always think before I post comments in quick notes or OOC.

Thank you for reading my ban appeal, I will accept any decision the staff team make from this appeal.

Best wishes,
Willy.

We'll kick things off with some rules - quote me the exact rules you broke, explain those rules in your own words and then tell me why we have these rules in place.

When is it okay to shoot someone?

Hello Matt,

(2.2) Random Deathmatch (also known as RDM) - Shooting at someone without engaging in any form of quality role play (eg. Giving enough time for them to comply with your order. Count downs are not considered quality roleplay, please at least attempt to create an interesting roleplay story before considering shooting.) is considered RDM. (Punishment is a ban).

This rule is not applicable in the red zone.

The 2.2 Rule is where you need to give someone sufficient and quality roleplay before shooting at someone. It is advised that a back story is to be created, such as your family need feeding. The 2.2 rule for RDM is in place by the server, to prevent it from becoming King of The Hill. It up-holds a quality form of roleplay, and makes the server as good as what it is today. In addition to this, it creates a strong line between roleplay and gunfights.

(2.8) Threats to report / disputes / Breaking RP in Voice. There are so many people on the server with all different points of view and disputes and disagreements are all part of the game, however please do not discuss them in-game also do not break RP in voice. For example if someone has RDM’ed you discussing this on the server or saying “I am going to report you” is not allowed. Please use the forums or teamspeak to report or discuss only (Punishment is a ban) Exception: You may contact someone using the text system if they are not on teamspeak or on the forums. Please only attempt to make this contact in effort to resolve the issue, not to antagonise the other player/users/members.

Rule 2.8 means you cannot threaten someone with a report a player, or break character. The threat report someone, side of this rule is in-place to shield people from being under the threat of a report. This is so that they can resolve any situations more effectively.

The point when you can shoot someone, is when both sides have given a sufficient ammount of quality roleplay. The roleplay needs to be suggestive of an aggressive tone, or clearly threatening. Or under the guidelines of the rules or @SGT Matt 's post. (While the post is still valid). What I did at Charkia was not within these rules, and I apologise to the officers who recieved poor roleplay from me.

Thank you for reading,

Willy

Hi Willy, you were asked to not only quote the rules, but explain why each of them exist, and why they are important.

Hello @CSI LONG BEARD,

I believe I did explain why I thought each rule did exist. But I'm not here to argue against you, so I will use this time to reconstruct a better answer.

2.2 Random Deathmatch

The random deathmatch rule is in the server rules, because it is the key backbone to keeping the roleplay to a high standard. Rule 2.2 exists, as a base definition of how you should go about rebel roleplay (with good quality roleplay). The Staff Team have this rule to empower them to issue sanctions to people who don't give roleplay that fits their criteria. This rule is important, as when someone is punished for the rule such as a warning or ban, they can learn from their mistakes and hopefully have a more clearer understanding of the quality of roleplay we have on this community. The rule is important as it is the funadmental part of any Altis Life Community, it makes a clear line between Roleplay and King of The Hill. Our RDM rule in comparison to other communities, is much better as it shows off our high expectations of Roleplay. Something I didn't meet in the situation with the NCA Officers, of which I now apologise to the NCA officers here for the low level I sunk to.

2.8 Threats to Report

The threat to report rule is in place, because the Staff Team do not like it when people go around threatening each other. The rule exists so that people can resolve effectively, and not think that compensation is the only way to resolve. This is especially true when the words "Compensate me otherwise I will report you". The rule is important on this server, as threats are not tolerated in our community. Why? Because if one threat works, then it opens a gate to more exploitation of that person. In addition it can create anxious moments, where people think they will be banned for making a tiny slip up. What I did in the scenario to MikeRaft was not acceptable. I have been on this server for 2 years, so the newer players around me at the hospital may of been influenced by what I did. I should of set an example towards those newer players, I am sorry I have let the Staff Team down.

We'll give you a second chance, don't betray our trust.
