TOO MANY PLAYERS ON THE SERVER?

Server QOL

Over the past few weeks since the server cap was increased, not sure if this is the issue causing this but after that I as many others have noticed the severe issues that comes with it. Players teleporting everywhere, vehicles teleporting, the list goes on. I feel like having the server capacity back to 250 would benefit the server QOL as it will definitely help with server issues in the future such as things stated above.

I love that there's more than 300 people wanting to play the server and that there's not as big as a queue as before but recently the server isn't handling it as well as it should. The queue before when there was 100+ man queue there was never an issue with people waiting to play, so even now when there's isn't as many people queuing to get in, it shouldn't be a problem.

 Past Experiences

Whenever the server was at a 250 player cap before, the server would run a lot better than it is now from what I can remember. I've had a tonne of people saying the same thing as I am and think this would benefit the server as a whole. IE : More priority for whitelisted groups, whilst regular players that are policed such as rule breakers aren't running as rampant as they are more and more as of recent. Also, I believe with less "regular player" count the police and NHS are able to do their job a lot more effectively since they get priority on the server as well as other players waiting to get in due to there being a queue.

The player increase definitely affected the performance significantly, around february last year (100 player cap) I could play fairly well but nowadays I keep getting sinkholes so frequently the game is barely playable. So +1.

I feel similar to the points in the suggestion, however as time goes on the dev team will continue to work hard and optimise the scripts as they go, this in turn should allow for a more stable and playable server, it just takes time, the main issues everyone is facing are pretty much OneSync issues and the struggles of OneSync it sucks but the dev team need to work their magic when they can 😛

I've had one instance Sunday last week in the middle of the day for me. Early Sunday morning UK time. Fighting a guy who kept disappearing. I wondered if it was client side as I'd tweaked the vid memory up and the server was not even half full. Only time it's happened too. I've noticed an increase in lag at times too but only when it's full and obviously my location plays a role.

In regards to performance I myself always have issues despite the fact my PC is decent enough to run GTA well. Since this player cap increase some places on the server are pretty much a dead zone for me, I play on the lowest settings just to be able to enjoy playing the server but in places like Legion my game legit dies. Extremely low FPS, freezing the occasional crashes it can be a nightmare.

That being said I am so happy that the community is in a state where 300+ people are playing/willing to play but I would have to give this thread a +1 for the meantime until any known issues are sorted out.

I have noticed it a lot recently too. When I’m just chilling on other servers for a few hours my game is smooth and decent fps. As soon as I switch to RPUK I notice a significant difference, my game feels sluggish and jittery and that’s even in low pop areas. It got to a point where streaming hits my FPS too much now to a point I had to stop so it has definitely changed over time.

I have also had a lot of issues where as before i hardly had any! So hopefully theres a way to fix this.

I don't think the 300 cap players is entirely to blame here, as it was increased a while back and no one had issues. Perhaps because the server didn't reach said cap until more recently?

But, what we also have to take into consideration is the return of the animals in the city, with them came more NPC's such as local heli's (Which are constantly bombing the city, especially around AutoExotic), the LostMC clubhouse with it's 25+ local NPC's all ready to shoot you if you look at them funny is also another prime example from the Ranger update, and so on. I think this also has some effect on the city's performance issues. 🙂

-1 i belive the server is fine with the 350 or what ever the capacity is i belive that Ballas vs Triads and Coalition Vs Vagos and Hustlers and Lost doesnt help the server in any matter the maps turned into ukraine basically just war everywhere
Literally none of that has anything to do with server performance.

Could we please stay on topic? If you don't know what affects server performance fair enough but that has nothing to do with the constant stutters and lag issues for the server recently.

Paul McSauce does have a valid point, for every gunshot a network entity is dropped on the floor (As evidence for CID or when using a flashlight) the same applies to blood which is dropped when someone is punched, hit or shot as well these "wars" do have an affect on server performance, probably not as much as it's made out to be but it does have an effect, then don't forget to add the actual player vehicles being driven round as well as NPC's and AI, as well as the animals spawning and then there are the custom additions, the MLO's and map modifications the custom meta data for lighting and handling, and the scripts themselves just generally running in the background, they all add stress and strain to the server on to of the abundance of other things, the point is valid albeit does skew slightly off topic 🙂

excactly what Tommy said aswell as all these people who linger in the area to watch the fights aswell doesnt help any issues so for you to say for me to stay on topic when i didnt leave the topic and gave a point of view and probably a valid point 😄

Echoing the op, +1 from me. Turning on the network graph, you can see the server is struggling to keep up. Also, going from a capped 60fps to 0 frames for about 5 or so seconds, it's jarring.

We are always working on making changes to clean up code and make things more optimised. If you could go into details in regards to what things you are experiencing etc. We made a update last night to hopefully help 🙂

A few things I've personally noticed when the server's at max capacity

. Both cars and people don't move like they should. Both cars and people "harry potter" everywhere

. UI is either buggy or slow for storages, PNC, safes etc

. Frame drops in populated areas (more to do with high entity rate, cars, police equipment etc)

Anything else I can think of I'll edit this post

When I drive past ammunition northbound towards legion i almost always when there’s above 250 players on the server have a lagspike (screen just freezes for a few seconds then comes back) - Just one of the main things i’m experiencing in addition to, of course, the approximate 50% fps drop when i’m in the city.

I just can't drive around Legion unfortunately. Skipping frames and freezing.
