The 8PM restart

Well what can I say the dreaded 8PM restart, just a short 4 hours after the 4pm restart, in my opinion the 8pm restart is the worst thing for RP, takes away a lot of the fun because 1 hour before 8, people seem to stop RP'n, it's just tough to hold scenarios or do any sort of serious role play the last couple weeks, it's also hard to run a stream because of it, I know the 8pm restart is like probably keeping the server alive or not laggy

1- make the server restart at midnight instead of 8pm

Means 12am-8am-4pm is the cycle, the hype usually dies down at 12 and that's when most kids come on to vdm anyway, personally means I could stream for longer, I could live my life while in queue, like queue at 6pm to get on for 8pm or something like that, spelling is probably terrible and everything else, fuck mobiles

I'm a fan of the 8pm restart as it gives many people the opportunity to get in to the server, while I appreciate this makes it frustrating for those who might have just got in around 6-7, but the 8pm connect is a bit of a second chance / level playing field for those that missed the 4pm spam.

Also - having a restart at midnight would, as we see with the Arma server, kill off the numbers. As Recon and others have stated before, those late night restarts (12 and 4) can unfortunately act as a 'reality check' for many, and give them the excuse they need to log off for the night.

@Norman get what you mean but hard to plan stories and scenarios after 4 to it all mess up and not get in after storm, then they can't get in etc till 11 or 12 but probs just go to sleep instead, I've found the past 2 weeks just terrible with the voip or story lining or serious RP'n, I'm now just running around not even bothered as much which is annoying but it's good to see everyone else's thoughts on this

I agree, maybe a 10ish restart? Best of both worlds? I feel like the 8PM is just getting crazy, people arnt playing but then waiting for 8PM, which is making it very hard. This has its pros and cons. 
for example I made an event for NHS and Police for 9:00 and I was queuing from 8 and ended up in at 9:45, which left little room for prepping the event. I just feel like it makes it harder for RP events/scenarios.

but I also agree with Norman, it gives people a chance to come on if they have missed a previous restart.

but yes I feel like the RP is dropping especially with VOIP and people knowing they may not get back in at 8, they’re seeing it as a “oh well F*** it “ situation and give up with RPing, and go mental. It’s giving people no motivation because sod how crazy it’s getting?

As much as I hate the 8pm restart, I believe it gives a lot of people a chance to get in after work, and if it gets pushed to 12am it will only make the server less playable for a majority of the people who work long hours.

it would make RP scenarios easier but limits other people chances of getting on.

Without the 8pm restart I have no chance on getting on after work, until I have to log off really, if I finish work at 5:30, Make dinner, walk the dog, it's about 7/7:30 and by 8pm im stuck in a queue until 10pm usually anyway, but at least then I have the odd chance of getting on for a few hours, if there was a queue since 4 I still wouldn't get on until late, as between 4-8 very few people seem to log off anyway.

The 8pm restart allows people to get into the server that can't get in at the 4pm restart as they are at work/school. If people are "1 hour before 8, people seem to stop RP'n" then they need to leave the server and allow other in that are in queue as alot can be done in 1 hour on the server.

So I previously suggested this before



My initial view was the same as yours. People switched off a bit, meant anyone not in at 1600 would get put in a queue that would last until about 1900. But on discussion on the other post I ended up agreeing with those posting on the points they raised. 

As such agree to keep 8PM as to see oppertunity for persons to join for the evening and also to ensure a stable server is set for the rest of the evening.

I kind of agree with you FatherAugustus, the 8pm restart is an inconvenience sometimes, cause by 8pm the server is full with a queue already building, and then the restart happens, resulting in most likely a 100+ player queue which can sometimes take hours to get through, leaving some players to get on at 12am, which is essentially when the server starts to lose players. Resulting in possibly less RP.
