State of Roleplay on FiveM

I massively agree with your post, me and the rest of the orange cap gang are almost definitely in the altis imports pile, we still haven’t found our feet yet, partly because it takes time to learn the new etiquette regarding how you go about situations and that is mostly to blame towards our devilish tactics and play style , but we are trying to improve and I greatly appreciate the work of the police and what they get exposed too. hell no do I want to deal with 4 energetic toddlers wearing oranges caps running at you with hammers .

I have been on the front-line as the police since day one. It has not been a smooth ride. Officers getting killed for trying to arrest someone for a speeding ticket or running a red light. People just breaking the law right in our face for no reason and expect us to do nothing and then the same people tells us that another person is breaking the law and wants us to arrest them on the spot. We deal with so much hypocrisy it take incredible effort to maintain our standard. We are not perfect but considering what we see on a day to day basis its staggering what we have to go through. Sometimes it seem that people think the only way to RP with a cop is to break a law in front of us. We want to catch a crime not see it shoved in our face. The one thing that really get on my nerve though is the abuse people give the NHS, that is something truly senseless

Best cop in town !!

Good points. But at the end of the day it is a video game
It is a video game but you are willingly playing on an RP server, therefore, you have an obligation to RP to a high quality. Yes, it can be annoying if cops keep/continually pointing tasers at you but if you are a continuously providing them with an aggressive RP style then they will have to RP back to that style.

It's funny because myself and the majority of people I play with log onto the FiveM server strictly for the RP, People who know me will agree that I'm just as likely to start a fight with you than I am to RP a nice peaceful interaction (If I were a rebel on altis) however on FiveM I've seen loads of amazing RP, from gun deals between a gang and the Lost MC, proper Police pullovers that don't end in "follow me and die" and people just doing their thing. Obviously there is a boat load of hackers/trollers that have come with the recent free giveaway from Epic Games and there are definitely one or two idiots who have broken the rules because they were salty of situations not going their way (Won't name any names) but I'm pretty sure the standard of RP is quite high at the moment.

Where do you begin. FiveM has been incredible. It's so nice to see it has finally picked up and there is a steady active player base, it's thrown me right back to the days where I was playing San Andreas Multiplayer and later Gmod where I have an insane 7k hours.

Of course at this moment in time there's issues, player side and development side. it's new, there will be issues but they will get sorted over time, more content will come, things will work better and there will be so much to do. Just make sure to report bugs so they are aware of them and can be fixed.

When it comes to the players, again it's new, as Drew said the staff members are trying to enjoy the server too, they don't want to babysit every new person that joins.

I do agree that a lot of people that have played Arma for years aren't currently at the roleplay level that is wanted on Fivem. FiveM is very different, it's supposed to be story orientated. You have a character who builds his background, timeline and life. It's not just re-gear and go again. If you have ever looked into any FiveM gameplay you will tend to see that RP is higher but a lot more common sense and real life based.

Some may never move out from the Arma mindset, others can easily swap between the to. People need to stop worrying about guns, stop worrying about killing people and stop fighting people because they want to be better. I constantly hear whining about gun prices, or how the blackmarket has moved again. You are not forced to buy a weapon, they are expensive because they should be rare, if you think they are too much don’t buy one. You shouldn’t really be running around with an Uzi 24/7. I Personally think the Uzi is too good, I would prefer people to have something like an MP5 or AR as they cannot be used from within a vehicle and promote fights on foot rather than quick drivebys you can’t do anything about.

When it comes to Melee weapons I also feel they are too accessible,  understand most are simple objects but I would much prefer a fist fight then getting stabbed once and falling to the floor. It personally removes the challenge and enjoyment when it comes to a fight. Pistols for range and fists for close. More enjoyment and challenge then spray and pray of an Uzi or a swift stab to end someone.

With VDM / RVDM With the Realistic Damage coming it’s gonna change the way everyone has to drive, Unrealistic driving probably won’t really need to be a thing. You have a heavy crash your car will be totalled. Makes cop chases so much more interesting. Not gonna be all about speed but instead your skill. You get pitted high chance the chase will be over. More risk to trying to flee.

I’m hopping in the future everything will be player orientated. Weapons being player oriented will be a big change and will hopefully change the meta a lot. Limited supply should hopefully stop people going in hostile and value their lives and inventories more.

I personally feel that everything from weapons, vehicle modifications and housing market should all be player based rather than how it is currently which would increase RP and create opportunities to lower the price and build businesses competition and jobs. I’ve got some very in-depth ideas regarding vehicles which could create an amazing system. Not just for vehicle owners but cops and shop owners. Obviously it takes time, and as I know it’s not just a snap of your fingers.

I look forward to the future and I hope the server's popularity stays. I’m sure as time goes by and development continues Roleplay will increase with more to do and RP being the main focus to progress and develop your character. Good relationships will be a benefit to you.

@Mr Maxim  I do agree with you that the standard is high but it's not as high as I personally would like to see it in my own opinion. (Don't know if you're a cop on FiveM) But where I question the current standard is from 2 situations

The first I had pulled someone over for a minor violation as I was talking to the person a car that had 2 people in it pulled up and proceeded to screech down there mics that the driver had taken the passenger hostage (Even tho the driver had stopped by a cop) they then decided to ram into me as I was giving them no attention. (Bog-standard cop bait) I chased them and they simply got out of there car and attempted to murder me I will admit im sure that these 2 people are just trolls so I wasn't too pushed about it

But the second scenario made me have a view change as many of the players involved are long-standing Altis life players (I won't name them here but if you're in the command lounge ill tell you) to summaries it again me and 2 other cops had pulled and blocked in a sports car that had ran from us on many occasions while dealing with the driver a bus full of people rammed into the middle of the traffic stop and then in a very distinct voice I heard "Your shite mate yeeeeeeah" from the driver of the bus one of the passengers then got off the bus and robbed the sports car completely denying us and the driver to fully roleplay out the entire scenario and cutting it short.
It's from the second scenario i think that Altis life players need to realize that newcomers to the server will see the behaviour and just replicate it as they will undoubtedly know no better but long-term players should be leading by example and showing newcomers how to RP how to create new and fun scenarios and not just acting like an infant and trying to be a MEME

Also, i completely agree with @Stealthee to make guns a player ran economy, in my opinion, a gun should only be used as a last resort in GTA we now have the luxury of items like knives, baseball bats, broken bottles etc.. a gun should be a rare sight for a cop and also a rear thing for someone to use or to even take out with them. also, this player lead economy is a major +1 and is what I referred to in my prior comment in KerT's post by making this server unique from the Arma 3 server. My dream server would be to have a completely player lead economy from drugs, food, cars, everything (But that would be impractical)

The main issue I have currently is the mentality of some of the players this is something that makes me lose interest after patrolling for 30 to 60 minutes.

When I'm patrolling I tent to start of with driving safely and doing traffic stops for minor traffic offenses like speeding and redlights.

What happens instead of roleplaying back to me is the following:

I get out of my car to speak to the driver

Driver shouts pig at me and drives of.

Doing so the situation go's from a warning or a ticket  to a jail sentence for evading police and plenty other breaches of the law or even death.

I don't se a reason to start a persue just because you can for any reason what so ever.

Just my opinion.

Do take in mind that this is not every player on the server

Well said people.

I see this from 2 points of view here and 2 are very different.

From my Lost MC role, i for the most part enjoy playing, you get VDM'd and baited quite a lot. I like to stand in legion and watch the world go by haha and i often get ran over or some chav comes and kicks my bike. But its good fun and i know with the future developments its going to be even better.

Then we get to the bad part.

I have been a cop for 1 day and rage quit my game. I logged on, tried to pull a couple of people got ran over for trying too catch someone got shot and generally had a fucking horrible experience. I did have 1 really good RP scenario from @Kseniya and another person not sure, where i got taken hostage.

But being a cop at the minute is absolutely horrible for the most part. All so unrealistic with the people you deal with. Police are the actual heart of any server, if there are no police people get bored very quick as there is nobody to catch them. People need to start thinking of it from a police POV. When your running around trolling police everytime you log on the server "because its a game and your having fun" but that cop thinks "its a game and they just want too have fun" but there idea of fun is a good old RP patrol as a cop. Everyone is different and on Arma 3 im all down for being a rebel and having gunfights but on here its different.

Definitely think bans should start being thrown about for people that should know better. Sets such a bad example and this continued shit show in legion will turn away people who do log in to roleplay and only attract bored children who are not even old enough too buy the game.

Something i think would be nice is too make local cars locked again so any VDM'er cannot just jump in any whip and run everyone over or someone in a police chase jump out and into a fresh car. Lockpicks would be a nice feature and people would have too use taxi a bit more.

I have played a lot in the week i have had off work and i am enjoying it, dev team and staff are doing a great job with the work there doing and i just hope the community that will all be reading this can just think how there "roleplay" is effecting someone elses gameplay, if the other person is not also enjoying it, then please stop.
