Solicitors - Allow Secondary Jobs

Brief Summary: Allow Solicitors the ability to work a 'Secondary' job, whilst still remaning as 'Available' in the Law Directory.

Detailed Suggestion:

(Caveat: This is mostly aimed at newer solicitors. Those with established client bases suffer less from the issues outlined below)

Consistently active solicitor characters are few and far between. Most give it a go, do a few cell cases and then get bored when the work dries up during the quieter parts of the day/week.
This then leads to Solicitors going and doing other jobs to make ends meet. In order to do this, one has to clock out of solicitor, which marks them as 'UNAVAILABLE' on the Law Directory.

My suggestion is that Solicitors should be able to do some of the other, more flexible, jobs that the city has to offer, whilst still appearing as 'AVAILABLE' in the Law Directory. The main jobs I am thinking of are Taxi-ing and Food Delivery work.
IRL, both of these jobs can be done on a pretty flexible bases using apps such as Uber/UberEats. Drivers can enable/disable themselves from work almost instantaneously.

This would allow Solicitors to make some money and have something to do whilst still remaining 'AVAILABLE' for solicitor work. Should they receive a call from an officer or civilian during a food delivery/taxi ride, they would simply complete their current job and then go and deal with the legal matter.

Being a solicitor is one of the jobs on the server that requires the most OOC Knowledge and 'Paperwork'. It would be nice to unwind by driving a taxi, whilst still knowing that my client base are able to see I am available if needed.
In order for solicitors to be involved in the in-depth RP Scenarios that most of us enjoy, we usually have to be 'AVAILABLE' for a good few hours per day before something happens that requires the lengthy legislative RP.

Note: When someone is clocked on as one of the secondary jobs (Taxi/Food Delivery), they should receive the wage for that job every 7 minutes, not the elevated solicitor's wage.

The Pros:
- Improved Solicitor Availability for Civilians/Police
(Currently, most solicitors will log off/clock off if there is nothing happening, leading to a lack of legal representation for people when it is required)
- Improved Solicitor Character Retention (Solicitors are more likely to be active and stick around if they have something they can do during the boring hours)
- Allows Solicitors to take more ownership of their client base by being more consistently available
- More people doing realistic Civilian 'side hustles'
(More taxis and food delivery mopeds makes the city feel busier and increases chance of Civ <-> Civ interaction)

The Cons:
- Dev Work, currently the Solicitor and Taxi/Food Delivery 'Occupation' status are handled in similar ways. This would almost need 'Solicitor' clocking in to be handled in a new way that would also allow someone to be clocked in to Taxi/Food Delivery. (Perhaps an app that allows solicitors to mark themself as available/unavailable, as well as allows people to associate themselves with a Law Firm in the Law Directory?)
- People might moan that it's unrealistic. Given today's 'side hustle' culture, where a lot of people drive Ubers or deliver food outside of their normal working hours, I do not believe this to be *that* unrealistic. At the end of the day, this suggestion is intended to improve retention of newer solicitor characters and enable a greater selection of solicitors for police/general public. In order for solicitors to be involved in the in-depth RP Scenarios that most of us enjoy, we have to be available for a good few hours per day to increase the chances of something that requires us happening.

Does this suggestion change balance on the server ?
Not in my opinion.
Solicitors are, for the most part, neutral parties, who are external to any fights, gang wars or combat situations.
Perhaps it slightly changes the balance in the criminals favour, as there is more chance a solicitor will be available to represent them in the cells. (I think that most Police wouldn't see this as a hinderence, given that most officers enjoy the elevated legislative and investigative conversations that occur when solicitors are representing their PICs)

Please add on any ideas below that are relevant to this suggestion. Thanks for reading. #Wait4Wanyama

Massive +1 for this, I really like this idea and think it's majorly beneficial to some of our new Juniors especially.

I'd be interested to see if this extended beyond "Civ Jobs" to more "Trained Jobs" (specifically; Park Ranger / Hunter) - Never done it myself so not got a clue what the clocking in process is to be a hunter/park ranger, but could be nice to do a bit of hunting while waiting for a job to come up.

I understand where this is coming from, and I do think it's a shame that a lot of people don't keep to their solicitor characters.
The profession is one that is 100% dependant on other players and RP, unlike many other professions.

I don't think clocking on as other jobs would make the most sense, and I think it would be complicated from a dev point to edit the system to support it.

Maybe we should have a look at creating a way to spawn an "NPC Job" like you can do with taxis, mechanics and food jobs?
I'm unsure what it could be, maybe something with grabbing casefiles from city hall or paleto city hall and taking it to NPC clients houses, or police stations?
I don't know.

Regardless, I do think something should be put in place, to allow solicitors to make money when there is no RP to take part in.

Just having something implemented would be a massive plus. CPS don’t have a fun back and forth without solicitors.
As good as it would be that you could do delivery or taxi I do believe it would be chunk of dev work and semi unfair. Then you have the issue of which check you would get per 7 mins.
Honestly I think having something like Summer suggested with grabbing case files etc would be good.
Maybe doing some canvassing and “posting business cards” through houses would be cool.

There are quite a few low income solicitors that do need a boost when they are just starting their careers.

+1, you could do the fuel jobs without having to clock on, so using that as a template could possibly be a solution
