How long does it take for a house to show up as unowned after selling house? My friend sold a house just before the 8pm restart and when i tried to buy the house at 8:17 it was saying its owned.

From previous this should be instant, if its not showing up as available after time passing then probably best to look at a bug report would be my suggestion

Would it being sold before restart fuck it up at all?

While it may be low, the probability of someone buying the house in the mean time is still there. Check if your friend still owns the house. If not, may be a bug or someone bought it within that timeframe
