I was in a situation today which was kinda sad. Okay so my friend who has been on the server for 3 days and let's be honest he is still learning got banned for talking out of roleplay. Basically what happened was my friend was getting detained by the police for basically nothing and my mate who is very new and doesn't quite know how things work said that he wants to talk to and admin in game so an admin showed up and banned him for talking out of roleplay. Later on I went to ts and talked to the admin and he said that before the mass unban they used to perm ban people who spoke out of roleplay which in my opinion is ridiculous and now they still ban people for that. In my opinion you are not leaving a great mark on the new players that want to play and learn and you just simply ban them for such a small thing. My friend after this said that he honestly doesn't know if he wants to continue as he really actually wants to play this game but this really worried him. Honestly I belive this is the reason the server died 2 months ago. I really like this server and honestly I don't want the server to die once again. My suggestion is that you give new players more freedom and don't just ban them for stupid mistakes.

Im going to kick this off by thanking you for expressing concern. It shows us that you care and you want to play. But let me clarify a few things.

  • Server never died, it had fewer numbers.
  • When you and your friends and anyone else decide connect to our server, you do agree to our server rules. Cause if not, you could be taken aside and maybe even banned.

  • This specific rule is still in the ruleset and will remain as the goal is to maintain a high standard of roleplay at all times. From the moment you log on until you log out.
It is true this was a "permanent" ban before, but you could appeal it.

As it now says in the rules section (here) this is now how it  gets handled:
Our ban system has transitioned from a permanent ban system to an automated timed ban system where the ban length and rule number will be listed in the ban reason. These bans will automatically expire at the time given in the ban reason, for that reason we will not be accepting ban appeals for any timed ban. You should be aware however that some rules still carry permanent bans and these are listed below in bold.

The length of your ban are the following:

    1st Ban - 24 hour ban

    2nd Ban - 48 hour ban

    3rd Ban - 1 Week Ban

4th Ban - Permanent Ban (Requires Appeal)

This will reset every six months from your last ban to give players a clean slate for continued good behaviour, it should be recognised however that staff may use their discretion to determine if players are using this system to their advantage to facilitate their breaking of rules. Repeated offences of the same rulebreak will escalate up the scale faster. If you receive a 24 hour ban for 2.2 RDM, get unbanned and RDM a second time within 6 months you will move to a 1 week ban.

  • ArmA 3 is slowly going into oblivion. This is a fact looking at the numbers, but as long as we have our services up, we will not die 🙂 This is thanks to the dedicated players that keeps on coming back on.

New players do have alot of freedom, we do use staff discretion quite abit and do take into consideration how long he/she have played on it. But letting the system be abused is not going to happen.

I am not going to go into the history of your buddy but he should really just use these 24hr's to read up, ask questions and when the timer is up. Come back on and enjoy the server with some help from you. (Or anyone else if he asks for help)

If you want to ask something else, feel free to do so as we will answer you here.

Hello mate,

I'm the Policeman that arrested your friend. I'll keep this short and sweet.

Your friend was talking about illegal firearm and trading them. I overheard.

I then confronted him about it and he started getting aggressive. Then I detained him since I had reason to believe that he was in possession of an illegal firearm.

I detained him and, shock horror, he had an illegal firearm, call me Sherlock fucking Holmes.

In this situation I was by the book so hard, @CST Mike Polo would have been proud.

Your friend didn't just break RP once, he said "fuck you I want to talk to admin" x9

and "suck my dick you fail RPing cunt"

and many, many more.

Another honourable mention is that you pulled out your illegal firearm and threatened me to unrestrain him, and you're a PCSO.. so, yep. Not sure how you worked that one out.

Okay now I didn't threaten you I just pulled my gun out aimed it at the ground and simply said could you please let him go. You responded with saying you have officers in the area so I said that "so what" as i was confused because I wasn't threatening you so you pulled your gun and sprayed me down without saying a single word but hey it is what it is. All I wanted was to speak on behalf of my friend as he was new and didn't know how to handle the situation.

Also I am aware that what I did was wrong as an officer and broke some of the rules and I have learned from my mistakes and am not going to do that in the future.

Appreciate the response. I will try from now on to avoid situations like this and I will try to teach my friend to be more friendly and not talk like that again. This will make both of our life's easier.

nope, you said "Put your hands up". I do like a good video. So I wacked one up, here you are. Enjoy.
