Well, seems like people are stuck. Next month will be a little easier as it seems nobody got past stage 2.
The guide:
Part 1:
Task 1 was a Ceasar Cipher, with a shift of 3 characters. Really all this is is moving the letters along in the alphabet by a certain amount and leaving the rest. So using this calculator with the text "mrhgdqkrojlwkxelr/DOXN-Prqwkob/s2/a.kwpo" and a shift of 3 gives us the following half made link: which we just put dots in like so this takes us to task two.
Part 2:
Upon reaching the link, you were presented with this page, a string of text from a random novel from the 1920's (Ulysses, also a small reference to M in Skyfall)
The text and numbers are part of a Beale Cipher, where each number represents the first letter of the word corresponding to that number. (3 would be "p" for example). This was possible to do by hand as the first one was, but that would take hours to count and verify each word and letter, so using this calculator, all the work can be done in a few seconds. The thing with this one is getting to know that it's a Beale Cipher, which is possible but just think of it like security through obscurity, there are lots of things which could be done with both the numbers and/or the letters, but when you got to know it was a Beale Cipher, it took a few minutes to figure it all out.
Using the calculator gives you the following string you can fill out the dots and dashes to format it as a link like so: this link does not work, the dot in the middle of the number in the bottom goes inbetween the y and p like so which gives you a workable link to move on to Stage 3.
Part 3:
I'll leave it there for now, good luck. You have until Monday. (Part 3 here)
