Remove markers from the pnc after arrest

Currently markers put on people never disappear and a lot of people have markers that just aren't up to date. This causes hostility if a person has a firearms marker but wanna go legal after being in prison. My suggestion is that after you have been arrested all markers on that character get deleted.

Maybe not after your arrested as yes there may be a person that wants to change and be better / law abiding however there is the other side of the coin such as gang members etc.

I would say that someone has to go to the Police Station and appeal their marker maybe and state why it should be removed / classed as irrelevant?

Just throwing ideas out there!

I think the best method is case by case, but appreciate this creates another workload.

Wanted markers should of course clear, but IRL other intelligence markers have a period of time they can be removed and others that are quite serious remain permenantly. I've not seen the PNC system here to see how warnings display, but if not already a date should display next to the marker for when it was last relevent. Eg if the last time you were seen with a firearm in a concerning manner was March 2019 then the marker should date March 2019. If then today you commit to another incident with a gun then the Firearm warning should list todays date.

This way the marker remains for the lifetime of the record, but if they have behaved for some time you can quickly see the person hasn't done anything to trigger a warning for 2 years if looking at above example.

Jason is bang on with this suggestion - the expiration IG needs to be planned out/agreed though because as Weasley says people should be able to apply for other roles and the 'legacy' police history should not discredit them....too much 🙂

I mean all markers are is information if you have a fail to stop marker it's always best to call a 2nd unit because you have been noted to drive off etc it doesn't give us a reason to pull you over only Warrents give that

You don't need a reason to pull someone over, Section 163 RTA 1988 gives you that option all day long.

Having joined police since my last suggestion I believe it's still valid. "Firearms (03/21)" would be sufficient in there.

You do need a reason to pull someone over mate, I'm sure that's what you meant though?  The powers give you the ability to pull someone over if you suspect they are committing, about to commit or have committed an offence, regardless of which Act applies.

You can't pull someone over just because they have a warning marker or have history with the Police on their PNC record though.  If there is a warrant for their arrest you can pull over for that reason alone, you do not need reasonable grounds to suspect they are committing, about to commit or have committed an offence.

I hope this makes sense?
