Another suggestion from me today, change in game day/night cycles to Realtime (GMT).

PROS: Would make police reports make more sense. Would allow a more realistic and immersive experience city-wide.

CONS: Dev work, the possibility that players might not like playing in darkness all the time if they finish work late.

Does it change balance? Not that I'm aware of.

I like this idea, gives a sense of realism.
Unfortunately I also like the day and night cycle as is. Allows for dynamic roleplay, using either day or night to your advantage depending on what you're doing.
I also think you'll find a large percentage of the player base is more active in the evening and I don't think the majority will want to spend playing in the dark all the time.

I agree with Jack on this one, longer days and nights would be good but definitely not too long.

More people play RPUK after work (Around 5-6PM onward) than during the day. This would result in the majority of the community especially in winter having their whole RP experience in darkness.

Like Jack said maybe randomize the day/ night length. But going to real time isn't going to work.

Tarkov is the best example of how using real life weather and economy in a video game is dentin to fail.
