In your own words, please type why you think you were banned.

This ban was a very long time ago so the following information might be a bit sketchy on how valid it is ect.

I was perm banned in my eyes for 1 main reason but on paper 3 reasons.

The main reason that i deserved the perm ban was because i was abusive towards a staff member, if i recall i think i called a staff member a "retard" after he belittled me or said something a bit silly which annoyed me a the time, now i do not think this is tolerable at all which is why i'm no longer arguing this point.

The next two reasons are for meta gaming and combat logging i think. The combat logging in my eyes was a bit dumb because apparently leaving the game during the death screen was combat logging at the time which i had no idea it was. so my bad in a way but it's a bit of a silly rule. But i do understand it still defends against people trying to save items after death
The third and final reason is meta gaming which i do believe i did right at the start of my arma 3 altis life career... so completely my mistake.

What have you been upto in the last 6 months+ ?

For the last 6 months i've changed so much as a person. When i used to play i was 15/16 years old and still attended secondary school, this made me have a certain level of immaturity and a bad attitude.

Since then i've got a full time job as a hardware engineer and i've also gotten a girlfriend. So since my ban i've essentially been working a lot and seeing my girlfriend, leaving my gaming time to quite small amounts, the odd league of legends game or cs go game.

Since i've started my job i'd like to think that i've become a lot more mature and sensible.

Why do you want to return ?

I've been thinking of playing Altis life for a while now because i remembered how much i enjoyed it. I finally decided to apply on the server i played most and had a lot of money on for an unban.

Why should we unban you ?

As i've just explained i think since my last ban i've got a job and a girlfriend which has influenced my life so much it's actually made me so much mature, simple things like communicating to strangers over the phone at work and meeting new people at work, trying to make friends with these people at work i've had to change my personality and the style i speak to people to adapt to this life. And obviously with my girlfriend, i've had to meet her parents and i've had to have long awkward conversations with her dad which has impacted on my personalty and the style of speech i have.

I've noticed that a lot of the other ban appeals get replied with subjects like bad intent or poor applications. I would definitely say i always put a bit of effort into my applications if not my past ones but this one! All the times i've been banned i never had a bad intent of doing anything, yes when i called the admin a retard i deserved punishing. i wouldn't call this reason bad intent, i'd just call it a negative reaction. Also, the other 2 reasons are definitely not bad intent reasons. Accidentally meta gaming when i first joined was never a bad intent, also leaving the server at the incorrect time isn't a bad intent. 

I also see loads of ban appeals from people that could of committed mass RDM or VDM, i'm sat here like "i got perm banned for leaving the server..." Now i say that i got banned for that reason is because it was my 3rd and final ban of the three, i was unbanned for the admin abuse and i was unbanned for the meta gaming accident... My point is that i've always had a good intent on the server and i've always tried my hardest! that clearly wasn't good enough so now i'm a bit older and a lot more mature and sensible i think my hardest try will give me a good stay on the server for a long time, hopefully bringing fun and joy to myself and other players. 

I've also just seen @Drew say this in a comment to an appeal:

This may seem harsh but I'm sure you agree a player who got banned for too many RDM reports is shocking so these precautions are put in place, this is your chance to prove you are here to roleplay, do you agree / accept?

Now the reason i'm quoting that is because i think it's a bit unfair to give someone the exact same punishment for someone that's in my circumstances. 1st ban - Accidental meta gaming when i first started. 2nd ban - calling an admin a retard. 3rd ban - leaving the server during the death screen which i literally admitted to, to a moderator because it sounds like a silly rule. Now imagine if someone got banned for 3 small petty reasons. Giving them a perm ban like someone who might of done RDM, VDM and breaking NLR multiple times just seems absurd. comparing this to real life punishment system: that's like giving someone who murdered 3 people the same prison sentence as someone that stole food from 3 different shops. You see what i mean? 

Apologies if i seem like i'm being unreasonable. If i'm wrong in anything i've just said then please bring it up. I'm open to reason and criticism so if i'm wrong just correct me. 

I've also noticed that a few admins check what past posts have been done in my name, now i'm going to save you some time. All you will see is posts to do with bans. literally. i don't think i've ever made a post which is not ban related... but that was me. I'm sorry i did that, i really am, but i can't change that. I was so desperate to get unbanned at the time because i loved the server that much that i tried everything i possibly could to get unbanned, spamming the forums with unban appeals and ban change requests was apparently the correct way of doing it in my mind at the time. I have changed to the point where if i have done something wrong i'd go straight to the forums and say to the moderator or admin "hey i think i might of made a mistake, i got caught up in the moment and did something wrong, i'm willing to comp the person, i'm willing to take a temp server leave" ect. I'm not a perfect human being. I try to make fast decisions and they can sometimes be wrong, if this ever happens expect me to have requested to speak to moderators and admins before the person i've offended has even complained to an admin or even thought of posting the evidence on the forums. 

And if i haven't made my point enough, i know the 3 things i got banned for are wrong, i've accepted they're wrong, i just question things when they're not in my mind, hence the huge statements about certain things. like what Drew put in reply to an appeal. I know and understand what i did wrong, i'm willing to make every effort possible to improve on those mistakes and make sure they will never happen again. 

I'm sat here regretting writing such a big appeal now because i know that the admin dealing with me appeal is probably going to question each statement i've made and the admin will only ever reply every 7 days because bans are the lowest priority. (Hinting please reply asap because i really want to play on your server xD)

We are all entitled to our own opinions, i apologise if you're offended by me saying it's a silly rule but in my eyes it is. If you could explain why it's not a silly rule then it would enlighten me on the fact why that rule is in place? I can't remember when i originally got banned if i was on the revive screen or not when i logged out but all i know is that i logged out after i died and i got banned for it, i didn't keep any of my gear after i died or anything. that's why i think this rule is slightly irrelevant, because i essentially got banned for logging out of the server on a certain death screen which had no benefit to me at all... I just need a little bit of explaining on this rule. 

The reason why you should unban me is because of how much i've changed since i've last played, i will bring fun and joy to the server which will benefit myself and players in your community!

Apologies for sounding rude here, i've just read what i wrote and it does come accross as a bit rude but i can assure i'm not!!!

That thought right above this is the entire reason i put that silly rule comment. All i need is an explanation on why that rule is in place and how leaving the server whilst on the death screen is beneficial to me in a none role play way.

And it's making me want to play so much, which ever admin is dealing with this appeal, i just want you to know that i am a new person, i am willing to take on what ever punishment it needs to get unbanned, i will literally do anything to in game terms to get unbanned. I can't escalate anymore, how much i miss playing here.

Depending on the timeframe and certain aspects of the situation, logging out in this way can lead to you preserving gear. This lead to a very specific rule being put into place in order to eliminate any potential for this to be exploited. If you had "no idea" it was a rule, that means you clearly hadn't extensively read the rules and therefore doesn't that prove the point? On top of this, breaking one rule is one thing but breaking multiple rules is another one entirely especially when you felt the need to insult a volunteer in the community who is giving their time to make it fair and more fun for everyone.

We need to enforce our rules in order to make it both fair and consistent or it would lead to issues where some people get treated differently than others.

I'm not sure I'm necessarily happy with the idea of unbanning someone who seems oddly blasé about abusing my staff. If you are inclined to get annoyed by something and react in such a knee-jerk fashion, I question if you can be trusted. Am I wrong?

you're not wrong at all @TomTheDoge, to be honest if i was in your position i'd expect some magically worded apology and reasoning to actually unban me because of some of the rules i have broken such as the abusing a staff member, i couldn't agree anymore with what you've written about what i did. Yes i verbally abused a staff member, i got banned for it, i accept the responsibility and punishment that came with that ban, i wasn't happy with that punishment at the time but now i'm older and more mature i can understand. 

I've just got home from my second driving test attempt, a good comparison would be me sat there arguing to my examiner asking him to pass me even though i did something wrong, i did fail my exam today again but when he told me that i took it on the chin and thanked him for his time and shook his hand, i'm not gona sit there and sulk because of my mistake, i take full responsibility for not seeing a 30MPH sign and not reacting to it quick enough just like now, i didn't think about calling one of your staff members a rude word and i didn't think about the punishment coming out of it, now all i can do is simply accept what i did and learn from it.

You're also right about me not knowing the rules good enough at the time, i should of known that leaving the server on the death screen is against the rules and i would of been punished for it, the fact that i went into the ts to talk to a moderator about it and he then got an admin to ban me for it was the annoying part, because it's kind of like i owned up for a mistake and i was ok to take a short punishment for it, obviously again not knowing the rules good enough that short punishments aren't a thing on this server.

But to round this response off with a conclusion, i agree with what you've said, i'm not gona sit here and argue any of it but just explain my point of view, everything above this is just an explanation of my point of view to make me seem like a more eligible person to unban rather than remain banned.

On a more serious note... I'm not fully happy here necessarily but the time you've put in here makes me think you are worth a chance. Let's be honest, if you get banned again it's probably going to be the end of your chances so for now I suggest you make 100% sure you understand all the rules and talk to staff if you have any questions. Welcome back! don't screw it up...
