I believe that there are already some custom plates around that were auctioned off ages ago, personally I'd love to see more auctioned off rather than sold at 20k so that they remain exclusive

Yeah there was a few auctioned off a while ago think they went for a million or so each

Custom plates are already a thing as mentioned, there's been a couple different ways people have obtained them, but they've always costed a good few mill iirc
