New Domain - We need your help!

So far we have only secured £1000 for our new domain which is costing £5000, We are looking to secure our new domain quickly which will become our permanent home going forward when we decide to retire the AltisLife.co.uk domain.

We have agreed to pay £2000 upfront from community investors with £3000 paid over 12 months by Wilco as a payment plan and anyone else who decides they want to support that.

Today we want to press on with this and secure the domain this month if possible! So we are now giving everyone in the community the opportunity to get involved no matter how much! every little helps!

There are some special things for people who donate more but anything you can spare will be massively appreciated!

Thankyou for your support! As previously stated we have always been in this for the long haul so lets press on and make this our home for the next 10-20 years and beyond!

 
I'd kill to donate but it's not the right time for me (I can afford a medium meal at McDonald's till the end of the month!)

A. Unable to answer this question due to the months spent researching and finding the right one, but what i will say it is good! very good and worth this amount and more!

A. The best domains are taken these days! If you want the right one for your project/website/community then you need to pay a price to acquire it

Neither of those are actual answers. They both avoid specifics, and the answer, but I digress. Thank you, I must be going more blind than usual.

 
Can't afford it unfortunatly, I would really really love to but it's just impossible for me at this point in time(Xmas just passed, unable to work for whole of Januari, valentine's day, girlfriends birthday etc.). I already asked mom but she said: "No, pay for it yourself." :p

The Goal has been met based on pending payments, we will look to closing this tonight.

Reading the whole post I can gather this will be funded from Wilco's own pocket, as upkeep donations are kept separate to ensure the future of the servers when the goal is no longer met.

 
What is going to happen to the current domain? Will you sell it or keep it?

Will be kept, like we said before we won't switch straight away and the forums will stay on this domain until we decide to switch (when the Altis hype starts calming) at that point our altislife.co.uk domain will point to the new domain forever

I can confirm its not, we have some very kind people in the community willing to support us for all to enjoy.

 
Sounds like a wasteful investment with the current domain in use, but if you think another name will somehow help you more, by all means.

In 4-5 years + time who is going to know what Altis Life is/was especially if we are on another platform.

I don't know if you have been here to know that we are not a overnight/throwaway community but I can tell you we are not and want to take things way beyond the next level.

A waste would be not continuing this community after Altis Life

I get what you're saying, but £5,000 for a domain name? I'm sure you could get just as a good a domain name for a fraction of the cost.
