Whether it should be illegal in the first place - I'd imagine there is a pretty strong and convincing argument to be made that it's up for grabs to any salvage operators and the money made from selling the gold is the equivalent to the salvage fee the government would pay for such a loss.

And if it is deemed that this activity is illegal then this needs to be written into law and added to the official law post on the forums ASAP. Because at some point this thread is going to disappear into the depths of the forum and when someone sees a message pop up about the gold wreck and make their way there only to be shot by police there is going to be some angry posts fired off. Frankly until this is the case I'd argue that the police should not be allowed to classify it as illegal at all. I'm tempted to get my wetsuit and argue that and see what RP an officer can come up with.

If you read the statement you'd see why its illegal, its her majestys gold being transported. For you to touch the gold is theft, making you a wanted man, also any rules for this boat have been placed in this topic, MPU will attend the scene as soon as it "crashes" it is MPU's job to get the gold back to the bank, they will transport it to shore, and take random routes to avoid ambushes, same rules apply you must RP, there is no 30 minute rule on the boat, as the amount is Significantly lower, and by the time it comes to the 30 minute mark there is a small chance the gold will be gone anyway, it is not the same as a bank job, it is not KoS. hope this clears it up for you.

 
 
I would rally like to join the MPU at some point sounds like a rally enjoyable role to do and being in the water is a change :)

The fact it belongs to her majesty is irrelevant. In the real world it's up for grabs to anyone as soon as it sinks and becomes a wreck, as long as you notify the receiver of the wrecks. I suggest a reading of maritime law, specifically on the laws of salvage.

What concerns me is that the police are just making up laws that effect everyone. If this being illegal was in the initial patch notes that would be fine, or if it was in the official law post that would be fine, but it's not and just making up laws on the spot irks me.

 
Its an MPU rules, not server rule. its also to give MPU more work and more presence along with PLF on the water.

 
More to the point the boat was up in unmc territory yesterday, now what? Mpu can hardly go there atm

 
It was not the "police" who made up the rules regarding wreckage, it was me, i intend to keep them that way until either the admin or my superiours tell me otherwise,

You have to remmember, it's still a game... do you honestly believe the police force will watch by as the gold is being pillaged and the pillager recieves around millions of money  to use it on weapons and drugs, and illigal or heavily armored vehicles etc?

If i was to follow the REAL LIFE rules then every couple of hours you would hear this message: FREE MONEY FOR EVERYBODY!

It has to be a challenge dont you agree?

If you would as person provide me or my men one hell of a RP story we would probably play along and you would leave the area with millions or thousands of gold richer, we dont need money, we do what we were ordered to do.

And regarding the UNCM territory wrecks we just play along that the UNMC pirates pillaged it, we cant go nor touch it, so it's up to them to do what they do with the gold. 

Either protect it.. or sell it. 

Oh and we never make laws on the "spot"  we have a whole handbook with full of rules to follow.

Granted this rule.. is.. well, created on the spot.. but still, it's a temporary rule until admin rules apply.

I have absolutely no problem with the police preventing the taking of the gold, I agree the MPU need stuff to do and this fits the bill perfectly and I like the land component you added. But it has to be made clear to everyone in the places where people go to check the rules and laws of the server.

But if I bought a boat and diving license, grabbed all the gear and a boat and drove my boat over to the wreck where I get shot at by the police I'd wonder what the fuck was going on and I'd like to think I know the rules and laws by now.

So again, until this is added to the official law post, I can't see how you can justify stopping people in game, as you are de facto making up laws on the spot and that's bollocks.

 
I'd have to agree with @unconnected on this one.  Rules should be in an easily accessible place that all can reference.  I have no qualms about this proposal for this rule set and the way the MPU is to conduct business.  It sound like a lot of fun can come out of it.

Well as we are still waiting for aviation rules to be added and wev had chopped for billions of years this is probably last on the list :p

 
And that's why it's bullshit that you guys shoot at helicopters in Kavala etc. It takes 5 mins to update that post with something like "The 3 major cities are a no-fly zone, any helicopters will be shot on sight". Sort your shit out before enforcing it on people in game. Same goes for this wreck business.

Will it take reports on players to get this sorted? It's been weeks since that law post was updated.
