The following report is regarding MPU changes and backstory for the new wrecks that have been added to the server.

The gold will be treated as an illegal item by the members of the MPU, if you are caught pillaging the wrecks you will be punished by the laws written by the Altis Government.

(NOT AN OFFICIAL RULE, ONLY MPU RULE, wait for an admin response)

Backstory:

Due to the recent robberies on Her Majesties Treasury, the Altis government has applied for a loan from the United Kingdom which has since been granted. The loan is currently in transport from the UK, departing at Dover 14:00 zulu and is expected to arrive at Athira MPU base around 23:25 zulu time, where it will recieve an armed transport from combined police forces. It appears word has spread about this gold being transported as increased numbers of pirates, rebels and lowlifes have been spotted in the waters of Altis, speculations suggest there may be a mole within the employee base at HM treasury.

(Not an event Backstory but story for the new wrecks that where added 2014/12/8)

 With hostile activies looking evidently more likely, the Altis MPU will be taking to the sea's on a regular basis in order to ensure the safe transportation of Her Majesty's gold.

The press tried to get hold of the Chief in command Zippey  to get an statement on the matter:

'This came as a sudden shock to us all here in the Police force and not just me and my men within the MPU. I feel we were not notified within a substantial ammount of time and thus we are currently undermanned and outgunned if hostiles were to attack the convoy(Gold Shipwrecks) at this moment. I can asure you that the bravery of my men will not dissapoint you and we will do everything within our power to ensure the gold is delivered successfully to HM Treasury, however we must urge you all to take extra care if you are travelling in and around the local waters of Altis for the foreseeable future.'

With immediate effect, if notified of any hostile movements towards the convoy. All MPU members are to prioritise this as their no.1 task unless a valid reason is provided by a high ranking officer. If it so happens that the convoy is intercepted in parallel with a treasury break in, where possible MPU officers should still prioritise the convoy if there is a substantial number of officers on duty to deal with the treasury. Any questions regarding this can be answered by the CMPU officer SGT Zippey or either of his assistants, SGT Gazalad and DSGT JohnJoeEagan.

 A statement from CMPU, SGT Zippey; 'I am currently authorising the usage of boats commissioned to MPU by non-MPU members when access is granted by Marine Police officers, however rank restrictions will apply. Members of MPU who are SPC and above will be able to grant access to the Motorboat(Police) and Assalt Boat. SGT's and above will be able to grant the same with an addition of the SDV and Speedboat Minigun. Reasoing behind my actions is to ensure the safety and econmical state of this Island we live in is protected, any further questions feel free to contact me or either of my assistants. '

Update: The police officers are unable to retrieve gold and send it safely to the HM Treasury as police officers....

They are forced to relog as normal civillians and retake the gold and remove it from their inventory to completely delete it, that's the only issue we have at the moment.

Another good uptadate! This is for you rebels ;)

To "store" the gold away, the gold will be stored on boats then transported to the nearest city where an Zamak Transport ( Prisoner Transport) will be waiting to pick up the gold so it can transport it to the HM Treasury where till be stored away ( impunded)

Rebels then have to calcutate the route taken and try to ambush the convoy and recieve their loot!

Would be good if we can get something to actually combat the MPU mini gun boat tbh.

 
If people start complaining about the gunboat some restriction must be made,

Granted, it only takes 1-3 shots to destroy a boat completely and honestly i cannot tell you if we are even able to "disable" a boat...

Hence the transport of the gold so people actually have a chance of getting the loot.

 
The PLF MRU handled the minigun boat pretty efficiently at the base attack if you ask me, we had them fleeing to the shores where they were ambushed by us coming from the seas. Let them bring the boats.

But I still try to figure out who are those lowlifes you are talking about.

 
Here are two concerns I have regarding this:

Whether it should be illegal in the first place - I'd imagine there is a pretty strong and convincing argument to be made that it's up for grabs to any salvage operators and the money made from selling the gold is the equivalent to the salvage fee the government would pay for such a loss.

And if it is deemed that this activity is illegal then this needs to be written into law and added to the official law post on the forums ASAP. Because at some point this thread is going to disappear into the depths of the forum and when someone sees a message pop up about the gold wreck and make their way there only to be shot by police there is going to be some angry posts fired off. Frankly until this is the case I'd argue that the police should not be allowed to classify it as illegal at all. I'm tempted to get my wetsuit and argue that and see what RP an officer can come up with.
