More piss poor role play by bounty Hunters.

Here's the story.. I was driving around a very busy Athira, even stopping to recording three bounty hunters in the middle of a VDM situation (the offender was banned near instantly). A short period later, three bounty hunters in an orange off-road started following me. I told my gang, who took up positions and I drove to an area where they could not see me, put my gun away, stepped out of my vehicle for a tad bit of role play (realised it was Fuel and called off my gang members) Instantly Booker jumped out, knocked me out and restrained me saying "this is the guy, you're on the wanted list" and called me out as Kris. Unfortunately, I don't have the recording, however I do believe Fuel has (him being one of the bounty hunters). You can see the rest.

From what I've seen before, Fuel is a fantastic role player (being the main reason I felt the urge to role play) but unfortunately, that was my failure - expecting.

Later on I messaged Fuel who had advised me metagaming is no longer a rule. Does this mean I can shoot down Fuel and Booker any time I see them? Considering I haven't died since they sent me to prison of course.

Will will be talking action against this outrage soon dont you worry. We have gathered over a week of Intel on these so called "bounty hunters" and have deemed 90% of them to be useless and a definite unnecessary problem for our purpose. And it looks like 99% of the rest of the island feel the same. Expect drastic action against it soon.

To be honest , Wilco has basically said they can metagame. I hate it tbh...

To be fair, about 90% more roleplay here than with normal bounty hunters.... I don't see what the problem was...

and also, they've already said the picture matches.. THEN you added eye colour..... and at the HQ you added lipstick... to be fair.. it's hard to roleplay out of a picture, I hate it.... but these guys did better than most.

And why the heck were you guys not on as cops......

The "We've got a photo of you" excuse is the only excuse bounty hunters have, despite only actually wearing those clothes today. In fact, prior to about 30 minutes from this I only changed from a ghillie suit to that clothing.

The idea that "We've got a photo" is just a massive cock up for role play since no one has any idea what the person they've arrested is doing prior to that. For example "We've had this photo of you from last week".. Sorry buddy, I wasn't even present on Altis Last week or I may have been wearing completely different clothing.

Can anyone ask me question? Every time I see Fuel or Booker around, I can open fire as long as it's the same life?

Wouldn't be a bad idea if bounty hunters needed to take a photo of a person they are after, then give it an hour or so, find that person again, if they match the photo e.g. put new sunglasses on/balaclava, then they would actually have evidence to restrain someone and gives them more work then spraying that lovely little gun they have.

I agree with this completely, that's not an issue. But on the basis "we have a photo, it's undeniable" when I've literally just stepped out of my car just to role play with them, just a shit excuse to collect 1.6mil.

Been pondering this alot tonight and its clear that to improve the RP and people speaking to each other we need to loose the nametags...

I will have discussions with ciaran tomorrow on the best way to proceed and we will think up different ways the bounty hunter can work

More info to follow but yes i agree metagaming needs to be killed off not just with bounty hunters but with everything.

OoOoOOOH losing name tags. Will be extra hard to avoid talking to certain people I LAV IT.

You will still be able to notice a member of the UNMC / Police /Medics/ bounty hunter by there uniform but at that point you might be too close :)

Supposedly bounty hunters get a tracking system which tracks bounties, why do they have this at all? It seems like a very metagamey feature.

It could take hours to even bump into a bounty if the tips were removed to be honest, and I'm sure you'd get bored of pretty much just driving around and maybe asking the odd person if they seen so and so, not to mention that in roleplay terms you are actually tipping a "civilian" as to the GENERAL whereabouts of the bounty.

I think that it would be next to impossible for a Bounty Hunter to actually get the correct ID of a perp if names were removed, because let's face it, no one would really give up their real name if they see someone with the Bounty Hunter uniform walking towards them, especially when all in game character models look pretty much alike anyway. I also don't think that those that do take roleplay seriously should be penalised for the poor roleplay of others when they are a Bounty Hunter. It's hard enough to think up a reason on the spot for picking someone up when their name is of course above their head from a feature that is in the game for the Bounty Hunter to use, as well as having them pretty much going on that "Oh, that's not me, you have the wrong person, yadda, yadda", but one could argue that the Bounty Hunter is powergaming (forcing an action, condition or belief on someone elses character, or in this case making up that they look a certain way) when they say "This is your picture on the Wanted Poster", but at the end of the day that's the ONLY way a Bounty Hunter could really roleplay that out when they have apprehended their perp. Unless maybe an ID system is in place where a Bounty Hunter can physically get something in game that shows their name in which the player being asked for the ID can't just lie through their teeth or just generally fart arse around for 5 minutes whining because they don't want to go to jail because Bounty Hunters metagamed to track them down.

Heck, even having a simple emote in chat for the player to type something along the lines of *hands over grubby drivers license* in which case you'd see their name and confirm who they are... BUT, if something along the lines of *hand over grubby drivers license with the name "Joe Bloggs"* was on it, then if both players are serious about the roleplay each would know that person as Joe Bloggs and not his real name that is in chat, that is how things are done in DayZRP anyway. But then again I have noticed that the majority of this community are rather impatient and just want to carry on with their shit and don't want to roleplay.

Nah, clocked him by his accent while driving past the prison, some guy he was about to send to prison was saying he wanted to talk to police but Fuel disagreed and sent him to prison regardless. Obviously, I knew it was Fuel but didn't announce it, I only expected the role play to be of a certain standard. Booker did most of the talking and obviously the knock out restrain even when I was literally standing dead still and looking at them saying "hey folks"

Yeah that person was an ass he was also telling me he knows Wilco and he is going to get me banned.

But when it comes to this Meta gaming and being a bounty hunter, their is literally no other way for a bounty hunter to catch anyone,

And the way you was caught is more than legitimate, and yes you did get role play all be it after you was restrained.

That was our first day of being a bounty hunter as I wanted to see what it was like,

I personally as a rebel had multiple encounters with the bounty hunters all of which where terrible, they instantly restrained and put me in there vehicle took me to an unmanned Police HQ and instantly sent me to prison without a single word spoken to me

So personally I would think your lucky that it was us and you actually got some RP all be it not the type you was after.

Well it's really not, like Bob suggested, perhaps being a witness, involving a high profile PLF bank robbery and I was witnessed on scene (This was like, 30 minutes before.. and 30 minutes afterwards). Ask for a name at the least, I was called Kris and Booker advised that I'm wanted before using any other reference or information, I was still unconscious at this time. It takes a great deal or role play as a cop, we all know that - comparing yourself to the low role players that inhabit the bounty hunter scene is not something that's good for you, or the server so suggested "you're lucky it was us" is just a piss take, I speak for absolutely everyone on this forum who knows your standard of gaming.
