Brief Summary:

Have Speed Cameras marked on the map.

Detailed Suggestion:

I am not sure if this has been suggested before so my apologies if it has. The reason for this suggestion is down to the fact that a lot of new players don't know where speed cameras are and even some experienced players will forget that a certain location has an upcoming speed camera. I believe this is an issue because speed cameras are there to be deterrents for speeding rather than hidden cameras that just give out fines. This is why in the UK the cameras will have signs beforehand and/or shown on Satnavs/Google maps etc, even though it is not law.

Like I mentioned, the ultimate goal of a speed camera is not to simply fine everyone that speeds, but is rather to deter people from speeding in the first place. So having them marked on the map just emphasises that.

The Pros:

- Further deters people from speeding where cameras are located, which in turn makes those locations a lot safer for civilians.

The Cons:

- None. (Please let me know if you can think of a downside)

Does this suggestion change balance on the server ?

No.

You are correct safety cameras are there to deter people from speeding, however the idea IRL is you stretch a mile or so of road with safety camera signs where you have approval for operating them and have the safety camera (full time/part time) within those. The strongest deterrent for drivers is where they don't know where the speed camera is, but knows there is or could be one in an area. Not knowing where it is, they slow down in case they don't see it in time. Knowing exactly where it is encourages drivers to ignore the limit until they get to the camera.

I'm fairly certain there is only a small number of speed cameras in the city. I've worked out where they are (although doesn't stop me forgetting them!) and I think, much like other things on the map, it's something for a character to learn.

Perhaps some signage could be put up to highlight the areas these speed cameras are when approaching them, but I don't think they have a place on the common map. I saw someone was putting a map of their locations on Tweedle which wasn't a bad idea and better fitting for the roleplay aspect of the server.

I pay 30k at the very least a week and still would prefer it to be unmarked or the area itself changed 50 meters further and closer every week.

that way less people will fly into me (and maybe I'll fly into less people) cause it ain't cheap haha
