Iphone user's! Although I hate you all with a burning passion, I can't stand the idea that apple would intentionally brick your device causing you to propagate the issue further by giving even more money to apple for new shiny ego extensions.

Yep! Definitely thinking about switching to android next. Only problem is I literally have a handcuff on in the shape of an apple watch.

This is to do with the fact the touch ID sensor is hardlinked to your device. You can't use any other touch ID sensor for it. Otherwise you will get said error. I had this issue when I fixed my phone myself, and Apple gave me a brand new phone with no questions asked. 

This error ONLY applies to the home button. Not the screen, or any other parts.

@Dagrecorrect although that is explained in the article, about 3/4 of the way down. nobody mentioned the screen was an issue? Have you argued about this previously?
Very glad your phone got replaced, but you are one of a few I suspect.

What it doesn't explain is

• why is this only apparent in the new version?
  
• Why is a check not carried out before the upgrade?
  
• Is it "accident" that they refuse to supply official replacement parts, although have the parts available inhouse with pricey fitting fee's?
  

I can understand why they don't want people fiddling inside their device, but they have always had an ethos that is very against consumer independence, to a point where they ban apps helping people repair their devices, they have also blacklisted people who provide teardowns from receiving any new equipment. Hopefully this will change in the future.

But this is the reason I refuse to work with Apple products. They don't want people like me helping people, therefore making my life harder.

Apple do make some good gear, just personally I feel their ethos is flawed

Apple has its good products, like their time capsule(router basicly) and their earbuds, they have a nice OS.

but i prefer android myself, you can do alot more with it. currently in love with my oneplus 2.
