I Got DDOSED !

You can always get a more feature-rich router if you have the cash. I have a Draytek Vigor with built in DDOS protection which can mitigate most types of DDOS attacks. Multiple WAN too with built-in ADSL/VDSL model, 3g capability, plus Ethernet WAN and SSL VPN.

Has a great feature with a IPv6 tunnel which pops out in the USA, so all machines on my home network automatically get US Netflix without needing a VPN setup on their machine.

I can connect to my router with my phone/tablet via SSL vpn to alter any settings on either the VDSL wan or 3G wan (if connected)

Very nifty bit of kit, but pricey at £180

@Billy

Firstly, using a VPN on your PC for skype will not work. Skype doesn't provide support for a VPN tunnel. I think it's because Skype is based on Peer to Peer connections when calling. You can however use a Proxy to try and hide your IP when calling through skype, however proxy's often include the real IP in the packet but it's an extra level of security.

Using a VPN can be usefull to mask your IP. Beware of 'Heartbleed' which is a vurnability in OpenSSL VPN Protocols to allow your real IP to be leaked through anyway.

If your sure it's a Ddos attack then Don't add people to Skype you don't 100% trust and don't join teamspeak servers you don't know.
There are actually quite simple counter measures that you can take to prevent people getting your IP through Skype. You don't even need to add people to Skype to get their IP, an username would suffice.

Don't add people to your skype that you don't know/trust as people can grab your IP from there. (I would also look up how to configure your skype to show a fake IP address)
It would show an IP belonging to Microsoft(some will show "NO IP") tho.

In Skype:

Settings> Advanced > Connections(It's called 'Verbinding' in dutch.)

Port: 32535

Check the "Use port 80 & 443 for extra incoming connections"

HTTPS

Host: 127.0.0.1

Port: 40031

Check "Only allow direct connections with your contacts"

(I have "Use uPnP" disabled because there are known ways of exploiting the SSDP that is used by uPnP which could be used to amplify a DDoS attack)

Proof that this works / My settings:
