Having a problem with joining the server

Hey all. Whenever I try to join your server, and it's green so I suppose I'm at the right update, I'm unfortunately unable to do so :/.

On joining, I just get this screen for ages and ages, I get bored after about 5 minutes and then just exit the game:

What am I doing wrong? I bought the game only recently, and I have played single player very briefly. I attempted to join various other servers but tbh the downloading file bit takes forever and I give up. And other servers I just get kicked as soon as I try to join due to some reserved slot thingie. Thanks in advance :D

Is there some launcher I could perhaps try?

There is an ALUK launcher with the optional mod pack. Try find that or some kind gentleman could link it to you ( on my phone )

You sure its all the time? 

As of recent the server crashes but shows as up.

 
The servers appear to be freezing alot due to the new update, when a server is froze it will show there are players playing, and when you attempt to join, it will connect you but you will be stuck on that map! The best way to tell if you can get in a server is at one of the restarts! 

 
Managed to actually get past that! Now there's the downloading file thing T.T
