In my time here I have seen several iterations of Grove St gangs come and go and honestly its really sad there isnt a representation here now. Since the gangs have been enabled it seems like Grove is the bad penny of the group as they rise up for a bit and enjoy some popularity and then they kind of fall by the wayside again within a short space of time. I am not here to name drop or point fingers but I would like to see Grove St represented again, because it fits the city. They have a long history, they were the first gang i personally saw and interacted with in March 20 when I first came here so I have a certain amount of biased sentimentality for the name, the group and the area they live in. I would like to see them come back and be a proper gang again, but be different to what the other gangs offer.
There are some absolutely brilliant gang members in the city, and some great gangs providing some high quality RP but in my limited experience I struggle to tell one from another sometimes. They seem to blend into one sort of mash of people all playing with similar styles. I would like to offer a USP, unique selling point. Something a bit different basically.
IC - the gang would behave and functionally operate in the same way as all of the other gangs, nothing better or worse than anyone else.
OOC - However gang members would be encouraged and directed to operate in the same was as an NGO - non-governmental organisation - a charity effectively. They would have twitter handles which would offer support to the down and out people in the city effectively. Helping new players and providing community support to the game.
We would liaise with the various firms/organisations around the city to provide introductory RP to new players who came to Grove St to ask for advice/guidance/direction to settle into the city.
We would negotiate with the various car dealerships to ensure that a fleet of cheap accessible vehicles are stocked in the shops and we would help the new players to find work with the various businesses and organisations here.
All of this would be done with a phone book and some contacts and some time and patience to bed new people in and show them the ropes etc.
It is an altruistic viewpoint yes but I think it is one that the city could benefit from, our gang RP would be of the highest quality, we would have VERY strict rules on who can join and we would be held 100% accountable to those rules. We would wear our colours to represent who we are and be identifiable to the rest of the city, we will run community events (details to follow but currently have a sports and a music event lined up) and ultimately we will look to involve as many people "casually" as possible.
This style of play isnt for everyone I admit that, it takes time and energy to make a project like this work and not many people have the patience due to the lack of thanks you get sometimes when helping new people, but its something I have done off and on quietly since ive been here and honestly i get a kick out of it. Having the resources of a gang and all of the backing that can bring would, for me at least, make the whole thing infinitely more enjoyable.
I have a small group of interested parties who are willing to pitch in and help realise the idea but I wanted to throw it up here for discussion/buy in from the community and possible endorsement from the adults.
