So I am still buying parts for my computer, I have bought an i7 6700k with a Asus z170 pro gaming motherboard, however I want to now buy a new graphics card, currently I have a nvidia Evga GeForce gtx 960 2gb, I was wondering what GPU I can buy so I am able to use both the new one and old one

Right I'm not the biggest computer expert :p But after looking about a bit on amazon I found some cards

Asus DUAL-GTX1060-O3G NVIDIA GeForce OC Edition 3 GB GDDR5 192 Bit Memory PCI Express 3 Graphics Card - Black Price at £199.99 can be found here

MSI NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060 3GT OC 3 GB GDDR5 memory PCI Express 3 Dual Fan Graphics Card £194.99 can be found here

MSI NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060 GAMING X 3 GB GDDR5 Memory PCI Express 3 Zero Froze Cooling Graphics Card

£199.98 can be found Here

That's what I got from nvidia I also found a two AMD cards

Sapphire 11256-01-20G 4 GB Radeon RX 470 NITRO+ OC 14mn Polaris PCIe 3.0 Graphics Card - Black (7000 MHz GDDR5, 1143 MHz GPU, 1260 MHz Boost, 2048 Streams) £191.49 Can be found Here

Sapphire AMD R9 290 4GB 512-Bit GDDR5 Full Retail PCI-E Graphics Card £199.00 Can be found Here

If you are a fan of Nvidia, I strongly suggest getting the GTX 1060.

Thanks for the suggestions guys,

and also thank you hoax for getting me links and prices, it helps a lot, however am I able to use two different types of graphic cards, they don't have to be the same type to use them both at the same time?

so

for example I have a gtx 960 so wouldn't my second card also have to be a gtx 960?

I think so when it comes to SLI but I was mostly suggesting a upgrade using it as a solo card and maybe doing something else with your current card

SLI needs two of the same cards. If you want to update your card, you won't be able to use your old one at the same time.

@dankdogeSLI must have 2 of the same model of card. I.e. 2x 1060s, 2x 980s etc. THey do not have to be 2 identical cards, but will run at the lowest-common demoninator. I.e if you have an EVGA 960 and an MSI 960 and the MSI one is faster, it will all run at the EVGA slower speeds.

SLI must also be supported by the motherboard chipset and must have the appropriate speed lanes for the PCI-E slots. You will need to check if your mobo is SLI compatible.

Most of the time, SLI isnt worth it. You're better using 1 single powerful card. If you get a new card and want to use your old one, you can in some cases use the older nvidia card as a dedicated PhysX or Cuda card.

£200 quid you can get a GTX 980 at that price and trust me you will never have to upgrade for atleast 5 years will run everything in ultra settings

No point in buying one of these new 1000 series cards unless your looking to run your games in 4k.

Another good option is the 780TI older series doesnt support 4k but will run everything in ultra settings :D at 60fps which is what you want.

That's some mighty fine claim you have there !!!

in 5 years you can game everything on ULTRA on a 980GTX
*cough bullshit*

You clearly don't know your cards then :) Trust me £200 for a 980 great deal :D

The only new 1000 series card which will run 4K somewhat good is the GTX 1080, the 1070 is able to run 4K but not that well, there is not much of a point trying 4K with a 1060. £200 is a good deal for a GTX 980 and it would be a better card than the 1060, at the end of the day both the 1060 and 980 will be an upgrade to your current 960.

I have a 1080 and I think its shite.. thats the equivalent of 2 980's. You're calculations are off by around 3,5 years. I'm already looking to upgrade to the 1080 ti when it arrives (or get a nice titan xp depending on price) but then again.. Nothing will last 5 years I can promise you that xD.

I was just wondering if there was a decent GPU for around 200-300 that was worth the buy, like should i spend 200 on that GPU or just keep the one i have now
