This wouldn't have been as bad if you had just messaged him and been a bit more delicate. You was in the police for a long time and was very experienced. If there's a next time, ask to speak to that person and just say "You've been coming across really arrogant in game recently, are you aware of this?" As long as you have examples of this he would have no real argument back. Chin up, Appeal and learn.
