Brief Summary:
Fishing should be changed to make it a good option for legal earnings. Bait and Tackle is the business which
supplies the required fishing tools, there are a few ways to make this place more for the civs.
Detailed Suggestion:
The main issue I come across with people at the shop is actually the door to the building (insert kekw), the door is very annoying and needs
to be changed so that entering the building isn't harder than the actual fishing.
This next suggestion is more towards the people who work at the shop (and a little towards everyone else). It's extremely annoying to see people
drive their vehicles off from the top of the property onto the pier (this is not very RP-Friendly); there are 2 ways that could fix this issue.
1. Put up strong fences which will not allow for vehicles to be able to drive over, into the pier
2. Change the wooden steps into a driveway for vehicles to safely drive onto/out of the pier
Either one of these changes will make it so that vehicles won't be left around on the pier just to cut corners to sell fish
This next topic is for the actual Fishing aspect. The way fishing is at the moment, it is not really worth doing since it's not very rewarding on
the legal side; one way I suggest this could change things is by adding a bonus multiplier to selling a large amount of fish.
For example, '10 Carp grants you a bonus of £700', '35 Carp Grants you a bonus of £1700' (Not actual expected figures).
Carrying on from the fishing topic, there should be more variations of fishing rods, for example - someone wanting to try out fishing can
purchase a very cheap rod (For example a Wooden Rod), and those who want to catch fish faster with a stronger rod can purchase a Steel Rod.
For the illegal side, I think it should require more to start the illegal side of fishing. So here are my thoughts: Fishing for Turtles, Sharks etc.
should require a specific rod (the most expensive one). This will make sure that people first go through the legal aspect of fishing before doing
the illegal side. There should also be a system for a time when the shop purchases illegal fish (such as night). Rods should also degrade
overtime, cheaper rods degrading faster than the more expensive ones.
The last thing I want to add is that the current way of fish being sold needs a change. Instead of looking at a spiky ball on the counter,
it should be an actual local/NPC that the player interacts with, this will create more immersion for selling fish. If players really want to save
time when selling fish, there could be 2 options at this NPC - 'Sell fish' where you of course ... sell fish (gheez im hilarious) and also
'Sell Prices' to check the price of selling fish.
The Pros:
- Fixed door
- No vehicles being yeeted/Way to get in and out of pier
- Making legal fishing more worth
- Different rods provide cheaper options to start out
- More immersion
The Cons:
- To do more effective fishing will require to spend more on equipment
- Night time is the only way to sell illegal fish
- Rods will not stay permanently
Does this suggestion change balance on the server ?
I do not think anything I have suggested creates balance conflictions on the server.
