So I've been saving for a while and finally got enough and decided "Fuck it" and threw £1300 at a new PC. Specs are:

  • Intel Core i7 4790K 4GHz CPU
  • 8GB DDR3 Memory
  • Asus RoG Maximus VII Gene Motherboard
  • NVIDIA GeForce GTX 970
  • 500GB Solid State Drive
  • 3TB Hard Drive

Case: Corsair Obsidian 350D

Power Supply: Corsair AX760i, 760 Watts, 80plus platinum

Keyboard: Microsoft Sidewinder X4 (old is gold)

Mouse is some old faithful Gigabyte one

Headset: Steelseries Siberia V2's.

I'm gonna be looking into buying a new SSD soon as I feel I'll need 2 after a while, and probably some more RAM but it will do for now!  Here's a iPhone quality picture of it's insides!

How much fps do you get around like -low - medium settings?

i haven't tested that mate, but in Kavala on. Full server I get around 25-50 on Ultra and everywhere else 40-60+ on Ultra.
I have 3570k and 660. Where does the major performance increase comes from gpu or cpu do you think?

Correct - CPU is the main component on Arma 3. GPU is obviously involved for the likes of anti-aliasing, draw distance etc. But with the objects etc in the game that you computer must calculate for - the CPU is the big number cruncher.

and that's why AMD isn't very good for arma. I'd know first hand.
