Economy Reset

Would an economy reset be beneficial for the server?

This is just to gauge the community's thoughts on an economy reset.

As currently, it has become more apparent that Altis Life has become a glorified cops and robbers simulator, no one is doing runs and gangs are just attacking the high-end robberies.

Also, instead of +1's or inevitable -1's, can we get some constructive feedback on it 😬

i can only imagine a lot of the people giving a negative response to this post will be people who have a lot of money, which is understandable. However, think about it logically, when was your most exciting fun packed times on the server? mine were the late night weed runs with @Hammah and @Pee Money, constantly grinding them out and being so afraid of being caught by the police and losing our trucks etc, @Pee Money would rush ahead, sell his stuff and text the police informing them two more trucks were coming in, then sit in the distance with his binos watching us try and talk our way out of this, thus creating ROLEPLAY.

Nower days it seems like the more active gangs on the server would rather do a HM or an RBA and as an officer i cant recall the last time i came across a member from a high priortiy gang smashing out some runs.

Reset the economy, everyone will be grinding runs and there will be ALOT of roleplay, i think it would be a great idea, and make the server a lot more exciting, it may even bring in a lot of players if its advertised that the economy has just wiped, creating a balanced playing level.

A reset to the economy system would benefit the server completely. It would most likely entice some old players back into the community and revitalise it somewhat, I personally have come to points from a police officer's perspective that there is a limited amount that I can do. Less people are doing drug runs due to them already having such a surplus of money. And why would you want to do a drug run and earn little to no money when you can go do an RBA Treasury and get millions from it. I think it would be a good idea to reset and possibly take a new approach to the Economy system. Not like Tanoa because I completely disagreed with the levelling system to unlock new items. That to me was ridiculous.

Rather not, haven't spent the last 2-3 years making money to have it reset.

People will unfortunately vote yes just to damage the community

I have seen servers die overnight due to resets, Not something we will ever do.
Server will die indeed most people play here because they have money and it takes so long people have been here years to get where they are today.

We grinded to get to where we are so whats the point? it will just make the server die such as wilco said

Yeah no, it took me quite a while to get to where I am at now and I am not gonna lose everything just because you think people are not doing runs lol

Think about it, if an economy is reset who benefits the most the Police and I will tell you why. Imagine this, people doing illegal runs and the only weapons they can afford so far is a pistol. A pistol vs AR/NCA or whatever high command takes out. Pretty obvious who's gonna win.

Dj & the development team are constantly updating & changing things, look at the barns. They are new and although originally screwed the economy up, they now are going for millions. If other things with a high price tag are added, more and more money comes out the economy.

Grind hard so you dont have to grind later like most of us thats it. No need for reset hard work will pay off lol. Probably all the hobo’s are the ones voting for yes cuz they might only have lik 1/2 mil in the bank...

Exactly, there are hobos running around with mxms etc(load outs costing up to 200k) with only 700k in the bank. I never used to buy guns unless I had more than 3-4 mill and even then they were trg. Everyone are trying to partake in rebel activities with very little on the bank and it is screwinf them over. You need to grind for a bit & then get to a point where you have to only do the odd run every now and then to stop your bank going down. It’s all about being smart wiTh money

You know it man back in the days when I had 20 mil I still ran around with mk20 now days every guy that has under a mil runs around with mk1... economy is just fucked xd

Would an economy reset be beneficial for the server? No, it’d kill it.

However I do think that the meta of the server should be completely changed, and that unfortunately everything nowadays still costs too little. As far as I’m concerned, you could double every weapon (even triple the price of some) and it wouldn’t make much difference to a lot of people. All it would do is essentially negate the ‘half price’ sale which frankly is achieved so often that it is breaking the economy. Need to have more endgame items and not have it so that “you’re not a rebel until you have a Mk-1”. Mk-1s should be the VERY TOP TIER for a rebel and it’d be much better for the server if most people ran around with 6.5 with an MXM signifying “oh they mean business”.

It’ll never happen, but unfortunately the heaviest weapons are way too easy to get. Even advanced is not as big of a step as it was intended to be, and after that regearing doesn’t even set you back at all. Nothing to work for anymore.

The economy certainly needs to be looked at. For some, money just isn't an issue and they can buy whatever they want, which is, in itself, an issue.

As @Tuna said, weapons and gear need to be looked at massively. I was shocked at how cheap some clothing is, especially when you take into consideration how much protection it offers. My only source of income is through the police (I only do runs if there's something really special I want to buy), and the cost for a set of rebel clothing, with the best armour rankings, was covered in one pay-check. That's ridiculously low, and unbalanced.

Being a rebel should have a significant cost. It's mean to be high reward because of the high risk, not something that everyone who isn't a cop does. You should be worried about bring out your best gear, because you know if you lose it then you'll be set back a decent chunk of your bank account, not having the high end gear as your standard walk around kit. That's where people valuing their in game lives came into it: their gear cost.

The way I see it, there should be three levels to the civilian life:

  1. Law Abiding Citizen

    • Does legal runs
    • Is generally safe, though might be robbed, because the cops look out for them
    • Never going to be super rich, but doesn't spend as much money on gear as criminals and rebels
    • Weapon no bigger than a handgun
  2. Criminal

    • Earns money by robbing citizens, other criminals, fuel stations/local banks
    • Might do illegal runs to gain a boost, but could be robbed by rebels or arrested by cops
    • Big enough group might try an RBA International robbery
    • Gains money quicker than citizens, but has higher cost for gear
    • Weapon no bigger than 5.56
  3. Rebel

    • Primary income through illegal runs
    • Might try HM or AR cache, but those jobs cost a lot to set up, and can be a big loss if it doesn't go right
    • Some of the richer people on the island, but also pay more to gear up
    • Can afford most weapons, but need at least one HM or AR win to afford 7.62+ weapons

I have been looking at job balance and overall money balance the last couple of days and trying to figure out a good formula for calculating it all. Balancing especially the economy is not the easiest thing and it is hard to drain money out the economy. Honestly their some extremely awkward factors to balance everything around (Half price and police free gear are two that come to mind) and balancing the economy is always going to leave somebody upset.
