The 6700k is newer, but - it does NOT support DDR3. The Skylake platform has very, VERY minimal support for DDR3L (low-power) memory and there was reports of using DDR3 Memory with Skylake CPUs that burned out their memory controller. Dont risk it, use DDR4. If you cant afford the 6700K + Mobo + DDR4 Memory, go for the 4790k I7, or the i5-4690k + Mobo as that means you can keep using your existing DDR3 Memory.Yes, i just dont want to spend $300+ and not be able to use the part i have bought, is the 6700k better than the 4790k, the 6700k is about $30 cheaper and supports ddr3

INTEL'S SKYLAKE PLATFORM DOES NOT OFFICIALLY SUPPORT DDR3 MEMORY. IT HAS LIMITED SUPPORT FOR DDR3L BUT IS INTENDED TO BE USED WITH DDR4.
Don't try and save 30 bucks just to shit over the 6700k as you'll only have to replace it with a new one.
