Death In Los Santos

In the wonderfully violent city of Los Santos one of the most common things to happen to any and all players regardless of wealth, faction, shape and size is the unforeseeable clutches of death.

With this i would like to encourage the community to consider potentially implementing a new form of system when a player dies. This system will add corpses to the server (not the ones you have in your inventory) But instead physical corpses of the player (or if not possible to do) a body bag replacement.

What this means is when a player dies their body will remain in place as a ragdoll and it could be potentially looted (or not) if found.  The body itself could be moved around and/or stolen however could optionally only be done under a whitelisted permission where only NHS and Police can move dead bodies from public places.

Once the body was found a NHS member or a Police Constable could have a body bag in their inventory that can be used in an ALT function to *zip up body* This would then move that player into a static prop instead of a ragdoll .  (example below)

Once the body has been recovered and bagged it could in be picked up like an inventory item (that could weigh a lot) or could be  loaded up into a coroner's car/van or an ambulance where it would be transported to the Los Santos Morgue (Also known as the coroners office.)

In GTA V this is an building that already has an interior with a morgue and offices in place.

At the morgue a specialist branch of the NHS known as a Embalmer / coroner  Would need to prepare the body for a funeral. They could do a couple of minigames to prepare the body where it then it  would be stored in a morgue fridge where the civilian job would take place.

The Mortician (Civilian Job)

20230725155137_1.jpg

This side of the job is now taken over by a civilian player. Their job now is to move the body into a hearse and transport it to one of three graveyards within the island.

This job will work a bit like a mechanic callout when police want to move an impounded vehicle. The Mortician will get a dispatch when a new body is ready at the morgue, they will in turn drive to the morgue park up and head to the front office where they will choose a body from a list that are available. They will be required to rent out a hearse (or perhaps use their own) to move the body from the fridge to the hearse. And then from the morgue to one of the three graveyards found in los Santos.

In turn player bodies could be buried in graveyards for bonus income and experience where as local bodies could be sent to a local crematorium or body burning area. Dependent on distance would also depend on payout.

The Hearse driver will be required to drive the car as carefully as possible as to not damage the car or the coffin within it. The more damage the coffin sustains the more penalty they will received once delivered to the desired location. If a coffin reaches maximum damage, the job is terminated prematurely and they are potentially fined for breaking property and damaging the corpse.

Once arrived to the graveyard they will move the body from the hearse to the grounds where a collection of empty graves could be dotted around said graveyard. They will be required to have a shovel on them in order to do this and once they have found a suitable location they will need to both dig, place and bury the body.

At this point the job will be considered completed and they will receive a payout on all parameters. (Distance = Payout + no damage bonus )

In Conclusion

This will bring an extended level of RP to the meaning of death in the server and also grant us a new job for non-criminal based players within the server. With this it can keep players occupied and extend RP to levels it never normally reaches. Grants NHS something else to do when they're not busy and can help expand the jobs market.

The challenge this faces is the RP behind when a player is found dead. Realistically we will respawn and this would cause complication. An idea to resolve this would be to make an animation like the one we have now where we wake up in the middle of the forest. But instead of waking up in a forest we wake up in a graveyard thriller style crawling out of a grave in a comical fashion.

Once the body is bagged there would be no way to identify who is in it and all body bags and bodies would be treated equally as for decency sakes when prepping the bodies.

I hope people agree to this extend.. give the server some severity to life and death.

+1 Love this idea! More RP for civilians and the possibility of creating more RP from the endless deaths!

I like your idea and all, but essentially there are a few issues I spotted with this suggestion.

1) Firstly, how does this "improve" the RP experience for everybody on the server? Like can I (for example as a solicitor) benefit from this being included?

2) Another possible issue here, is the demand to reward ratio, so for example adding another fuel station for example close to the mount chilliad area could benefit some people traveling there, since there are barely any fuel station over there. What is the demand of this being implemented, and what are the rewards for the people on the server? This looks like it would only reward the people actually doing these jobs. Not everybody else.

In general I love the idea, even more so where possibly CID could "identify" a body, and for example the body could be "autopsyied" to reveal cause of death and possible evidence, etc... but I do see some flaws with this.

+1 I really like this idea. It's really thought out and the pictures help.

As an Apostle I really like how this could work within RP for us, running the chapel, funerals and receiving bodies etc. I for one would really like to explore that!

+1 I like it.

The idea is not slanted to one side, it benefits everyone and brings something to everyone's table and overall its another thing to do on the server

(This is my personal opinion and NOT the opinion of staff).

Of course I personally would love this. +1

I would like to see the profession of a medical examiner, that interacts with Police/CID and the Judiciary. All this interaction and roleplay that this all would enable. A dream. ❤️

However the rate people are massacring each other hourly, the city would be piling up with body bags. Since many have the illusion to have connected to another CoD Warzone map, the frequency of murder is astronomically high in this city.

I like the initial premise of this idea and believe it is something that could be tailored to work in future however there is one thing preventing me from upvoting. This is that I see a potential power balance being shifted and misuse possible if bodies are to be searchable and the items able to be looted. I can almost certainly imagine the situation of individuals metagaming the location of their death in order to retrieve items that otherwise would have been lost thus removing the consequence of death in RP.

For this reason I will remain on the fence
