@Daniel Master

Evening

I have a couple of things i need clearing up before going any further with this request.  Would you be able to provide some background of what happened with the Blackfish. You have said you crashed but normally that would then be back in your garage after the restart.  Did you land and the Police have scrapped it.  I just need something to look at because as of the moment i have very little to actually say yes or no to this request.
All i am asking is please give me as much info as possible as taking a screenshot of your garage is not going to help me.
Thanks

@CSI Harry White
Sure, so I went to the ATM to get the 25M arround 22:50 UK time, went to the dealership and buy the Blackfish, as I purchased I decided to take it for a fly, as I didnt know how to fly I ended up crashing minutes later, exploaded and I ended up dying, then I respawned. After the restart I saw that the blackflish wasnt in the garage, went to speak to a DEV staff, as they could see the purchased logs, and to see it didnt got scrapped. They told me to go on discord, then to move to comp request

I decided to talk to DEV because I got told that they can see this kinda stuff, but my friend also told me that they aren't going to look at it due to "lack " of time. I would understand if this happened to a SUV or a Hellcat, but 25M still lot of money that I lost

@Daniel Master I am trying ever so hard to look for information behind the scenes and speak to the relevant people and gain information.  The issue i am facing is there is nothing to show any error on the back-end systems.  I am sorry to keep going round and round in circles but is there a friend or even a video that shows you doing this.  Without any other information it will be hard for me to move forward with this request

No, I dont have any video of me purchasing a blackflish, I was speaking to @bellboy on how could I land it, but I seriously doubt that he recorded me flying arround.

@Daniel Master Maybe speak to your friend to see if he has any video evidence of you flying it around.  Also did you die when you crashed it ect.  I am still doing some digging in the background so will hopefully get this wrapped up as soon as possible.  Do you have any more info that will help me in this case ???

I talked to him, he doens't have any video of me flying.

I crashed with the blackfish and respawned, flew to conAir to buy the rest of the list (listed above) the only difference is that I was keep buying them and storing them at the garage right next to conAir.

I know it's hard to proof and anyone could come with the same story but the logs would proof that I bought a blackflish, then a few minutes later got killed (Daniel Master was killed), spawned, and that the blackfish did not get scrapped by any the cops due to exploding until the restart.

Be advised, your friend is talking out of his backside. Several members of the dev-team have already spent significant amounts of time attempting to look in to this issue, in quite some detail. Let us be the judge of our time, not your friend.

Similarly, your intel that dev can somehow magically see all aspects of the lifespan of a vehicle are somewhat 'assumed', rather than necessarily being real. I'm not going to go into full detail of what we can see and what we cannot, but I'll say this much - it's not always easy to tell if a vehicle has been removed legitimately via 'allowed' in-game methods, and it's usually a lot easier for us to see when something 'dodgy' has happened that goes outside the realms of normality.

In your case, there is not a trace of this helicopter having been dropped by a database glitch or any signs of a write failure. Despite what our 'learned youngsters' might deduce about the necessity of storing and re-fetching a vehicle from the garage in order to make it stick, this is not the case, and (unless there is a glitch we have not yet formally identified) that is not a requirement. Once the vehicle has spawned on the tarmac, and is able to be interacted with by the owner (usually a matter of seconds), it will be written into the database as the owners, and marked alive and active. If it then crashes or is left unattended in the game world long enough for it to be despawned, it will be marked as no longer active but still alive - the alive flag determines if it is a rental or an owned vehicle.

The only things that can remove an alive flag is:

  • the vehicle being rented, not purchased, or
  • the vehicle being scrapped at the scrapyard by someone who stole it (not possible with the Blackfishes, precisely because they are so expensive - no scrap dealer will touch them!) or
  • the cops crushing a vehicle because they believe it was involved in a serious drugs crime (Proceeds of Crime Act, I think they refer to it as).
One the vehicle's alive flag is set to false, the vehicle will never be available in a garage again, and at the beginning of the next 4-hourly server restart, it will be deleted entirely from the database, never to be seen again.

We have had some very rare cases where vehicles have been destroyed literally as they were in the process of spawning, before their alive flags were set in the database, and this has crashed the database-writing routine for that vehicle, and it has never been recorded properly. However, these kinds of exploded vehicle instances are usually as a result of some object or building being too close to a spawn point, and the vehicle literally dying before it's been fully born.

You, on the other hand, have said you got into the Blackfish, and flew it away somewhere, and then crashed it several minutes later. If that is true, there is practically zero chance that this vehicle failed to be written to the database, because it clearly materialised on the spawnpoint, and you successfully completed an interaction with it, and took the time to start its engines, spool it up, and fly away. It would have been written to the database before you'd even got your backside on the cockpit seat! 🙂

I admit I am having trouble believing your story, but I am not so hardball as to say that the database write is always perfect - even though usually on the very rare occasions that it 'coughs', there is evidence in the logfile, and currently the logfile is giving me no such evidence of anything out of the ordinary whatsoever.

I'm finding it even harder to believe, seeing that you successfully managed to purchase, in quite quick succession, six other helicopters to the value of £15,675,000 with no problems, thus 'bullet-proving' the fact that the database appeared to be working quite normally at that time.

I need you to confirm a few more things for me, before I make any further judgements...

  1. What order did you purchase the helicopters in?
  2. Specifically, at what point in the sequence did you buy the Blackfish?
  3. What did you do with the helicopters as you purchased them and they spawned? Did you move them, fly them away or have a team-mate fly them away, or did you store them instantly back in the garage?
  4. How long do you think the entire process of purchasing these six choppers take, from first interaction with the shop menu, to the point you walked over to the Blackfish? Roughly - I'm not expecting a figure in milliseconds, but to the nearest half-minute or so would be good! 🙂
  5. Were you using any sort of macro or special keyboard tricks, to speed up the process of purchases in the shop?
  6. Given that you were planning to purchase £40,675,000-worth of valuable, fragile, easily-crashable, hanging-by-a-thread-at-the-best-of-times gear, why on God's green earth did you not at least take a single witness along with you, even just for protection of that money (that you must've been carrying in your pocket), who could vouch for what he saw, or even record the scene for you? Or why didn't you think it worth recording yourself? I mean, it's a helluva lot of money to lose in a glitch, isn't it? A sensible person would take steps to ensure they were protected against anything 'unusual' happening. Yet you didn't. Why?
Don't get me wrong... you are not being 'presumed lying' or anything like that... but in order to find out if this is a genuine bug, that has very strangely slipped through the cracks in a way that we devs have not yet even managed to hypothesise, let alone isolate or understand, then we'll need to do some work and digging, to get as much info on how to recreate the steps and make it happen 'to order'. If we can get close to that, and you help us, I'll happily reinstate the chopper. But first, we need to do the work.

Hello, @TinyBigJacko, I've been arround in the community since 2016, and I fully understand the progress staff/dev need to do, to assure that this is not a scam or any trick that I'm doing, and I agree 100% in the processes, I talked to @CSI Harry White over ts (and let me say that I'm really greatful on what is doing), he said that indeed 25M were withdrawn from my bank account and he's trying to find what happened to it, he even offered 25M on is own cash (but I won't accept it as I understand the work he had to get those 25M), as I want this to get fixed even if it gets denied due to lack of evidence, so it won't happen to other players. Responding to the questions you made:

  1.  First I bought the Mi-290 Taru (Bench), then 2x Hellcat, then 3x MH-9 Hummingbird, (I belive this is the correct order).
  2.  The Blackfish was the first one, flew for some minutes crashed and then I respawned in the aiport, at that point I flew to conAir to get the rest of the helicopters.
  3.  At conAir there's a garage right next to the dealer, so I was doing this in a fast way, buying them and move them a little bit right to the garage, except the last Hummingbird that was used to fly away. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1679603809
  4.  For the first one that was the Blackfish, I got the money from the ATM for it, went to the garage (All this at the airport greenzone), retrieve a veichle to get to the dealership, purchase the Blackfish, and get in it, from the dealer to the Blackfish I belive less then 30 seconds, (just a normal buy and get in the heli to leave with no stops/AFK).
  5.  No, I dont have any macros or any of that.
  6.  I made this in 2 runs, I didnt need any protection when I went to buy the Blackfish because I was in the greenzone the all time, the first run to the ATM were 25M for the blackfish, I havent record it because I bought it and spawned normally, the second run 15,675,000 was for the rest of the helicoters over conAir (wich was a risk but didnt lost them or any disappearance happen with the helis).
Once again really appreciate the work here given by all staff/dev team. I'm almost hiting the 25M again in my bank account and rebuilt what I done to see if would happen again this time recording it all. While I was flying I was on ts with @bellboy asking him on how to land it, asked if he had any recordings he hadn't.

Im not mad or anything about all this or making any pressure to staff or even feeling presure from it, I'm just sad that this happened seeing 25M that I worked for getting lost, but hey this is just a game and I'm here to have some fun.

Hi @Daniel Master - and thanks for your continued patience with this.

We've been through the database with an even finer-toothed comb than last time, and I have to confess I am at a total loss to understand what might have happened.

My initial investigation turned up one vehicle ID missing from the sequence, but this later turned out to be an SUV that someone else had purchased while you were busy purchasing your second batch of choppers.

Unfortunately, due to some specifics that I cannot go in to, I was unable to pinpoint the exact sequence in the list of vehicle purchases where you would have bought the Blackfish, to see whether it was now a 'missing ID' (that would signify it had been purchased, listed correctly, and then deleted later after destruction). There were a few slots where this could realistically have been the case, and there is still a reasonable chance the Blackfish was in fact crushed... but seeing as I can get no police to remember such an incident, and there is apparently no other (programmed) reason that would account for a vehicle to vanish like that, I'm going to put this one down to gremlins.

I see you've purchased a replacement Blackfish yourself, so rather than replace the lost one, I have reimbursed your bank account to the value of £25,000,000 to cover the loss.

In the meantime, again without going into details due to security, rest assured that a couple of things have been done to the database which might help us narrow down the cause of this glitch in the future. No guarantees, but I take on board your desire to not have this happen to other players (and of course, we desire the same), so we've made a change that might make future investigations a bit easier, at least. We'll see!

We'll also run some tests under a fully loaded server to see whether there's something repeatable. Unfortunately, doing it in our test environment is only half the picture, if the problem is due to the database pipeline being snowed under (something very difficult to reproduce on the dev-server with only a few bodies to hand!). Similarly, doing it on the main server in a live environment needs caution (the last thing we want is a mass spawning of test Blackfishes to end up getting stolen by rebels and mayhem ensuing). We'll do what we can, though.

Thanks again for the patience, good attitude and fair-minded helpfulness. It's greatly appreciated, and goes a long way to making this a much easier decision. Sorry for any inconvenience.

@CSI Harry White - just so you're aware, I've already issued the compensation and have added appropriate notes to the panel, pointing here, but if I've missed anything please let me know. Cheers!

Now that you’ve been compensated for what you’ve lost, it might be an idea to join our Steam Group and Discord to get more involved with the community!
