Casino placing double bets

Out of my probably 5000+ hands played this is the first time its happened for me. 

Basically it takes twice the amount of chips you are placing down and deletes the other amount out that was put down, even if you win. I was sitting on the same chair for 10+ minutes so have no idea what could cause this. 

Recently I have seen this appear more and more among friends etc.

I believe so yes. Haven't been to the casino for a while so not 100% sure.
