Car Market | Economy

This is purely just my view regarding the current car market. I’m happy to see what other people think and I invite all car enthusiasts to join the conversation. This is my opinion.

Summary:

As things stand, the stock of import cars is limited, we get new delivery of cars once a month. People don’t buy cars as they come in because they like the car, they buy the car because it’s limited and they know they will make money on it in the future because of the low price it costs to import the car. People buy the same car and monopolize the market for it to raise the price over the roof which makes absolutely no sense to me. People who want the car that’s on the market can’t buy it because a few idiots bought all the stock. There’s so much money on the server that for most people ~600k for an import is nothing.

Suggestion:

Starting off with the economy side of things, everyone knows fishing is meta and you make 100k every hour using the boat (I don’t know if truck method is faster, so I won’t say anything about that). Given 3-4 hours of grinding people could buy the Evo X. An expensive car that is currently the best car in the server as we stand. This should be worked towards for longer than 4 hours. I make that money in a day if I really sit down and grind it out.

Pricing of imports should be adjusted more to existing economy; at the end of the day they are luxury cars and are valued more than your average local car. I’m a grinder just to put it out there, I have money sitting in my bank for nothing. When I buy an expensive car, I don’t want to buy it from another player, I want to buy it from the dealership. I want it new and be unique to me. I can’t imagine someone selling a 2kk car through /vehicletransfer option. I would be more than scared to finish that deal on the streets and since “scamming” is apparently allowed, fuck that. I want to RP with the car dealer to be immersed through the whole process of buying an expensive car. I want him to tell me a few things about the car possibly take me for a test drive, like people do when buying expensive cars.

People sell their luxury cars like McLaren Senna and RS8 for roughly 3 mil if not more. This should be the price point the imports come in at so not everyone can buy them only the more established people in the city.

I also have a problem with the cars being limited in the city, all the owners know each other, they have their friends and people who they will buy the cars for. If a car is limited to only 5 in stock and they buy one each for their buddies what does that leave the rest of the city? I understand the car is limited and they want it to be ‘unique’ but the way it currently is, it feels like they get priority to everything that comes in stock over your player base (no hate towards the owners, just the way server is.) What’s the point of new cars coming in if people who really want that car can’t get it anyway? As of now all the dealerships are sitting out doing nothing (honestly feels bad man). They have 1 busy day in the month and that’s when the imports come in. Nobody is interested in buying an 8k as that money can be earned in literally 5 minutes (except that one person who buys it to take the piss). This makes the dealerships selling local cars around that price useless. Auto Care was also my favorite place to go, have a chat with people about cars. Since Mick is out of cars to sell and nobody wants to buy shit local cars from that category the place is dead.

This brings me to my last point; imports should be available to everyone just like the local cars are all the time. New people who come in won’t be buying Lamborghinis on their first week, it’s a process and it takes time. Waiting 1 month for a car rotation just to “hope” you get it is honestly laughable. Personally, I would be willing to sacrifice being that one guy who has the car and no-one else does for people who also really want the car. What’s the point of having it in the server if other people can’t enjoy it?

Pros:

·         Gives people something to grind for and spend money.

·         No money sitting around in the bank being used for nothing.

·         Dealerships will be busy all month long not just one day in a month. It’s a steady flow of customers wanting to buy their cars.

·         Gives everyone the ability to purchase and enjoy the car that they want and not something that they have to settle for because everything is always sold out.

·         More RP for dealerships and players.

Cons:

·         You’re going to have to help me because I don’t see any other than increased prices of cars.

Does it change balance?

Yes it does.

I think there should be the bottom line of imports which are always accessible. Your regular Hatchbacks, Esates, Coupes, Convertables etc. however sports cars and supercars come in via rotiation with a limited number avaliable in the month.

To spread out how busy the business is, they should not all come on x day each month, but be shipped over a period of time throughout that month, similar to how supercar manufacturers release their new limited production vehicles (The first chassis number cars are being shipped to people sometimes before some of the later numbers have even started to be produced). Potentially make it so people can pre-order some of the limited cars, whilst others are secret. When it comes to pre-ordering, people may end up having to out bid each other or whatever within the dealership to be the person who receives the car, or first come first served.

ie. so if there are 11 of Huracan coming in for May, there will be 2 which can be purchased at the launch date, however the other 9 are being staggered randomly throughout the month

From what I've been hearing is that every month there's gonna be a rotation of different imports never the same. The warehouse gets restocked every day / other day for shop owners so I don't see why the dealerships wouldn't be the same. Waiting 1 month is a seriously long time for batch of cars that you don't even know you're gonna get in the first place. This would add variety and give people a chance to buy a car a few days later if they miss a certain date after the storm. It's another good idea

we should just be able to preorder the car we want knowing that if we can't get it on the day we can get it on the next shipment, then you can just add a limit to the amount 1 person can preorder, I can't speak for others but i've been waiting ages for the import system to be sorted only to then be informed I still can't get the car I want.

Also to all the people giving thumbs down, can I get some feedback too? You're helping no-one just downvoting the thread thanks.

I honestly miss the interactions in auto care, Mick and Paul, it feels like a place in the city has died as a social spot ( I know its nice more people around the city) but was always nice to go there to chat about cars and to chat about things

I personally think on the import drop day, imports should be limited to max 2 per customer on a server wide basis, and you should get banned if you use any loopholes to get more than 2 from the dealership. Sure, you can buy from others, but limit 2 to the dealership, so many people bought out Evo X's cause they were so cheap and sold them on, and it happens with many other cars.

Cars need to have more maintenance costs to them (Not just fuel and the odd tool kit) so people need to work out if they can afford to run/upkeep the car they want to buy with the jobs they are doing and not just making sure they have enough money for the one time payment to buy it (Which is saved up by grinding fishing). The repairs/damage system should be made more advanced which then scales in cost depending on the class of vehicle  (which needs to be redefined for all cars) as super car parts for example aren't exactly cheap. Maybe some sort of tax too as I think we all know driving something like an Evo or Subby in the UK is not cheap.

A whole new system would have to be introduced for this. Repair kits could possibly be changed to something that only fixes your engine, not fully but makes the car just drivable and doesn't repair your exterior look of the car. There could be a universal item called "car scraps" where you'd sell it to a mechanic shop. Depending on the price and rarity of the car, more scraps would have to be used up to fully fix it. Scraps would be provided by players that could be found doing different activities around the city. I'm just giving some examples here but let's stick to the topic of the current mess the car market is.

I really dislike the argument of “you can grind for a day and make loads of cash”. While true, for those who can only get on for a couple of hours a day/week then have a really long grind to achieve the same interesting houses, cars etc. If they want to role play around this then becomes an even bigger struggle.

The devs will never create a perfect economy. The balance depends on your investment. Everything runs 24/7 in the game so if you can grind 24 hours you’re capable of achieving 4x more than what someone doing 6 hours can do. You’re 10x quicker than someone who does about 2.5 hours. So do you then build the economy around? The regular full time players or those part time?

Having been one of the frustrated ones wanting an RS6 sedan for the past week I do understand it’s a pain you can’t easily get cars. But a good reason I want one is because I like the car, but also because they’re rare. I want a good looking car and I don’t want half my neighbours driving one too.

The idea of car maintenance interests me. It opens roleplay to garages to complete work at competitive prices. Your car performance impacted slowly due to a lack of maintenance and TLC.

Overall, the real reason the servers economy server is wacky is because of the players. Far too many want to grind to get a nice car/house in a week and then run out of things to buy. There’s no decent roleplay (ironic considering the community name). I admit a lot of roleplay scenarios don’t print money for you but is it really all about that? The most fun I’ve had in this server have been ideas that are different and refreshing. When I spent about 5 hours with Mr Callaghan and a few friends getting his shop business going, but not in a serious way. Was a good laugh and hopefully entertained the Ballers and others we interacted with.
Ballers last night had a talent show that should have been way busier than what it was - excellent fun from what I’ve seen. However everyone be fishing because #money.

I know this is about car economy but the whole economy influences it and all the time people come here working for materialistic items rather than player interaction and actual roleplay, the economy will remain bonkers.

In every game ever, you have people that grind and people that just casually play the game for fun. Things will always be this way and it will never change. The way the economy is balanced right now makes no fucking sense. To fill a full truck of iron is roughly 1h that nets you ~50k. You go fishing for an hour you have double that. You wonder why all people go fishing? It's because every job is the fucking same, fishing just happens to pay the most.

The money you make from ALL jobs on the server are brainless, boring and brain damage inducing. I would love to do jobs with other people, meet people that are specialized is things that others don't know about and give you an insight into their little underworld. What the server currently has and what it seems to be pushing towards is solo grind activities like in an MMORPG. Fishing, Trucking, Drugs, Crafting, Mining, Woodcutting. All these activities are done with a click of a button, no interaction with anybody just brainless walking around to make some money, it's pathetic for an RP server.

Like you say, RP doesn't print money. Then why don't introduce jobs that involve more than 1 person to complete? If I wanted to have a fucking chat, I'd go to a pub. I want to RP over something, if jobs were fun and exciting people wouldn't be sitting around hanging out talking shit all day long, because they would have something to fucking do and RP over. The reason this is happening is because there is nothing to do, everything is monotone. Events are always exciting when they happen however when that car meet happened the server couldn't handle it. All the boys we're getting DC, nothing was loading, people were falling through the ground people were invisible, it was a mess.

Until these things aren't addressed and we have no communication between the staff and players the server will just go downhill from here. Nobody knows what's happening. The staff is just working quietly not saying anything to anyone. Maybe if they listened to their player-base to see what they want, perhaps things wouldn't be so bad. I'm yet to get a response from anyone besides Warwick.

Changes have been made similar to this fashion.
