Black holes

So recently a lot has happened in science but what has struck my eyes is the fact we witnessed something come out of a black hole when most people know black holes suck things in. Strange ey?

What are your opinions on this event?

Also something just to puzzle your minds on my logic but im thinking just what if someone was watching us and depending on how many light years they were away from us that would be what history they would be observing so for example if they were 70 million light years away the light just reaching them would be the light that had bounced of the dinosaurs. Correct me if I'm wrong.

Any links to the black hole event?

As for the 70 million light years, you are essentially correct.

@JStar,

Thanks mate. It's quite normal for black holes to emit X-ray radiation, I think in this article it was just a massive eruption.

I love all this kind of stuff, used to study Astronomy at school and really enjoyed it...
Until I realised Astronomy is 90% maths, and I suck at maths... I was lucky to scrape a grade in that one ;)

yeah it interests me as well especially things in space, but I'm very interested in UFO's and since that massive eruption from the black hole there has been more ufo sightings across the world and they look legit compared to others as if other life has some how has come out of the black hole. But don't know if this is a coincidence or there's no logic involved.  :D

Same here love space, hate math

Black holes can also emit something called Hawking radiation. This is where you have a particle and anti particle pop into existance for a short period of time and instead of annihilating one of the particles gets sucked into the black whole and never annihilates, due to this phenomena occuring near the event horizon of a black hole. As such the black hole must give off some energy to make up for the particles not annihilating, in the form of Hawking radiation. This means black holes slowly evaporate away over time as they loose energy.
