Best Antivus to get?

i use Avast. Had one or two false positives but all in all its very good.

Personally I'd recommend Kaspersky, used it for ages, did the job perfectly and its easy to use

I click on every download button going and I've never had an anti-virus installed, Windows seems to be the best bet and also downloading from https sites that are well known seems safer.

Good to know you don't have any common sense in the area of virus's (or just lucky ;) :/

Guess I'm just lucky never had malware in over 7 years of playing on a PC

Security Essentials tbh, it is one of the quietest ones I know of that does antivirus scanning and that's it.

The rest of them have all turned into bloatware or don't work (Norton) i used to recommend bit defender as well all the time, but that has gotten top heavy as well now.

@Baggy Please don't recommend Norton Ever again, that tech "advice" was painful to read for everybody involved.

If your on Win10 your probably already protected.
Does Security Essentials come with a firewall? Never mind,  after looking at a few forums found out windows 10 already gives it to me but I have the free version of avast so I'm OK for now I suppose.

I'm very neutral when it comes to anti viruses because of the outlook on them.

You can be 100% protected with no Anti Virus the same as you can be with an anti virus

Paying for an anti virus in my opinion is just a lost cause, including the fact that it generally does more harm to your computer than you actually getting the virus (normally extremely bloat ware from high brands like Norton, exception MalwareBytes)

Thinking of an anti virus as a car, you can buy a 'safe car' but the car is not going to be able to stop that you crash into a tree and it's not the cars fault, some anti virus is good for one type of threat and others a different type of threat.

I personally use Windows Defender with MalwareBytes (non premium) just because it's a nifty piece of software with WEB protection so I know whether a website is legit or not before looking myself, however I would still be just as safe with Windows Defender which is BUILT in with Windows (also known as Microsoft Security Essentials)
